Mileage wise, I did about 12-13k last year. And I don't drive to work (well, maybe 10 times a year, 12m round trip, barely counts). Weekend mileage has really added up, but then my parents are 70 miles away, so that's 140 a month at least. And I toured a lot of the UK when the weather was good* in the summer. Visiting different parkruns is clearly something I now do more in the car than on the train/bike, too.

And Gazchap - do you dare allow yourself to spread those costs out over longer, taking into account owning a car outright? Maybe it makes little difference unless you own one for, I don't know, >5 years and reduce repayments to 0 or near, but it seems an obvious point of interest. Albeit conflicting, of course, with the urge to get another car.

Dat Q-car ness. There was a VXR8 that lived two streets over when we lived in Putney, used to walk the dog past it sometimes. I think they're quite handsome but then I always had a soft spot for Vauxhalls, as my own car ownership history shows.

I think even if I factor in insurance, MOTs and running costs, you've spent more on your pretend cars than I've ever spent on real ones.

I like old Vauxhalls like the Mk1 Astra and the Chevette, but they've been very uninspiring for a long time now. The VXR8 is very much a one-off.

Mine is a white Fiesta. Even though it was finally cleaned recently, you definitely don't need a photo of that.

Nothing wrong with Fezzas, I've had two - an XR2i and a "cooking" one, a 1.4D Style (I killed the latter having done over 100,000 miles in it; it was the replacement to my awful Mondeo and was a cracking little car, handled brilliantly as well )

I had two shitty 1.1l Poplar Plus versions, and one as a courtesy car just over a year ago, which I loved.

As I think I've said, if the Grimlet could fit comfortably in the back of a Fiesta I'd ditch the Focus off straight away.
