Heh, well, I started the thread mostly just out of sheer 'Woohoo!' glee, but now I feel a bit embarassed. As for being broke - mate, I was born in the Black Country, right as Thatcher was elected in. I'm fuckin' used to there being no money, no jobs, and everyone miserable and depressed.

Ha, I grew up in Blackpool in the exact same era, probably an even WORSE place to be tbh

I do keep on clicking on the "new topic" button instead of "post reply" button, so maybe I did that, but didn't put a "subject" in so it got lost somehwere.

I keep on getting caught out by posting something and it not appearing because people have posted inbetween my hitting the reply button and submitting said reply.

Brighton's nice, but I reckon it's as costly to live there as in London.

My sister had a friend who were paying £80 a month rent on a three bedroom cottage in central Wales somewhere, with a big garden. However, there were no jobs about that weren't working in the leek mines or singing in choirs, so it was hard to earn cash.

I lived in Brighton for a year after finishing my undergrad, 2001-2002. Moved to Leeds cos I could barely afford to live on the wage I was on. But I know plenty of people who rent for not too much more than I do in Leeds now (seriously, Leeds is really quite expensive) and I would only move to the south for 20K or more a year, I can easy live off that, I'm dead cheap me

I got called away mid edit, then I had to press it twice after the initial one. I can imagine on a very busy thread, with lots of people posting every minute, that it would get very annoying very quickly.

I don't think you can either, seeing as every forum software since the beginning of time* has had them. I'm struggling to see why it's a problem when we've had to put up with it on WoS for the last five years.

Ah, you were talking about the topic button. I think it was just because I was used to the "reply" button being on the left. (I know they are all on the left of the page now, instead of the right, but I'm sure you know what I mean)

That hasn't changed - the new topic button has been removed.

I quite like it, but an option to turn it off would be grand.
