We won 5-1.

Capello experimented in the first half, because if you want to do that, then the first half of an easy home game is when to do it. When we're having a tough time, everyone screams "What was his Plan B?". Fabio is trying out some options for Plan B.

Either way, had Newcastle been drawn against a Conference side in the FA Cup and 'only' won 5-1, would you consider it a good result and a banana skin avoided, or a terrible result?

We're top of our qualification league with 12 points out of 12 and an 11 - 2 positive goal difference.

It's all gravy.

Yeah, The only thing that matters really is the result.

The first 1/2 wasn't that bad, they just couldn't score. Their possession was high, they had chances, they just didn't take them. Yes the Kzahkis had some chances of their own, and it could have been much worse, but it wasn't. And that's all that counts.

The problem I had with the chances of the first half is that they were all long shots from outside the box or targetted corners to upson and no one could get anything on target. I dont see how trying gerrard and lampard again is seeing his options when theres abotu 50 games of proof that there useless together so stop trying.

What are the other options where we did better?

I'm not going to check the line-ups for each game, but weren't Lampard and Gerrard playing when we got to the QFs under Sven?

Surely that's better than not qualifying?

They played well. Fabio seems to have got them to care a little (I think it helps that he's kinda scary), and even Rio Ferdinand is coming across as sensible. It's scary.

But good on them.

This would be the Jol who was sacked for daring to finish 5th twice of course.... the one now top of another european league with a club that doesn't deserve to be there... kinda like he's been putting clubs higher than they should be.... maybe...

Apparently Ramos was at White Hart Lane and asked the groundsman how he kept the pitch looking so fantastic...

"Well sir", came his reply, "Every two weeks you keep on putting £70 million quids worth of shit on it"

Plenty of incident with the Spurs game against Stoke today -

Bale sent off for a professional foul - Stoke score the penalty
Spurs equalise
Stoke score again
Stoke have to switch goalies after Sorenson goes off with his face covered in blood.
Spurs have a defender knocked unconscious who gets taken off to hospital
Woodgate gives another penalty away. Fuller hits both posts with the shot and Delap hits the bar with the rebound. 8)
Dawson gets sent off for a reckless challenge.

So.. 3 goals, 2 penalties, lots of injuries and 11 minutes of stoppage time. Welcome to Stoke :)
Dawson gets sent

Wednesday won 1-0 with a deserved sending off, and a really odd one, with Wednesday missing a penalty.

It was acebest, and apparently my shouting "Kick him in the face" means I know nothing about the rules of a Sheffield Derby. But they did not throw me out of the pub, so all good.

Bloody hell, Spurs are looking inept. Nobody has a fucking clue and the only consolation is that the comedy soap of Newcastle has kept the attention away from the Lane up until now.

Ramos is out of his fucking depth, the board are a bunch of idiots and we'll be lucky to finish 12th this year. So much for not being happy with Jol! Cretins.

At this rate we might as well recall Ronnie Rosenthal to provide some cover for the strikers as even he was more prolific than this shower of (lovely people - Ed).

Notice how he approaches the goal diagonally. He used to do that an awful lot. In fact that's how he scored his hat trick against Southampton for Spurs. I always said if we gave him one boot that was specially built up we'd have the best striker in the world.

Chinny plan:

Get Tel back with instructions to rescue us this season. Then start looking for a promising manager who can work with Tel who can be trained up to be the next manager. Tel then moves upstairs when the new lad is ready to take over.

Fucking genius me.

Rob Styles makes poor penalty decision - more at 11!

Edit - Fantastic stuff from the Guardian:

Quote:
42 min: City seem intent to get through to half-time with their goal advantage intact. They continue to keep possession without looking interested in going forward. Mark Hughes looks a little peeved.

43 min: Goal! Newcastle 1-1 Man City. Ameobi.

Brilliant timing.

Very pleased with that performance, Joe Kinnear has put a great fighting spirit into us, I should be dissapointed byt he late equaliser but I really thought we would have collapsed after that decision.

Are you actually going to the game? Jamesoff and I (plus father and brother) are, but obv we're on the Chelsea side.

If you are and want a drink afterwards with at least me and the off say so :)

Also "They"? Cup games often are Weds. BBC's have always been Thurs.

For once in my life I'll say, 'come on Chelsea!' I've hated Burnley since they caused us to miss out on a moneyspinning tie at Anfield; dumped us out of the Cup despite being thoroughly outplayed; and then stealing three-quarters of our midfield the next summer for nothing.

Given the ref was so far on Roma's side he might as well be wearing an Italian flag t-shirt and they parked not only their bus but 3 trucks and the tate gallery in front of their goal it would have been appreciated.

Still, 3 points is 3 points. :)

Ramos is way out of his depth, he just can't communicate. Sack the board, sack the manager and sack the director of football. It's a relegation battle on tonights form.

I still can only blame Ramos so much. There is a limit to what you can do when they sell 40 goals a season out from under you on transfer deadline day.

Even so, he's certainly not inspiring them, they're behind Derby on a game for game basis.
