Guess you have used them, any issues with customs and whats the average wait time for them?

Post subject:  Re: Lego (picture-rich thread)

No problems with customs - moneysavingexpert suggests never ordering more than $15 worth - I've only ever ordered $5/6 from one supplier. Wait times can be quite long, though always within whatever timescales (a month?) they give you. I just see it as an order and forget thing - order lots of things and just wait and see when they get to you.

Here's a photo of some that arrived yesterday, to give you an idea of what you'll get (don't expect too much packaging etc!) - 5 figures in that tiny jiffy bag. You might just be able to see from that that the arms (and hands) have to be attached, though I've had very few that aren't then as solid as you like.

Yes I got some this morning, same figures but from a guy on Ebay who had UK stock, spent part of my lunch putting them together!

This month, I have bought 3 boxes of Lego.

Assembly Square
The Detectives Office
The Brick Bank

And now I'm totally addicted. Next on the list, is the cinema or maybe the Parisian Restaurant... There are also 3 train sets I want.

I also saw the Millennium Falcon in the store yesterday and wow.... It's absolutely enormous. I was also very tempted by the Disney Castle. I like the bigger builds with lots of pieces. Next, evict a child so I have room for all the Lego!!

I think that's probably about right. Though not so bad that people could tell the difference when it was all up in my office. It wouldn't be so good at withstanding a good hard playing-with, I guess.

I love those - the buildings they have to go in what seems like the 'Lego city - tempt the adults' range are what might make me eventually reconsider my "I'm cured of my addiction!" status.

They're amazing - the level of detail is something else. There's loads of scope for actually playing with them, too if that's what you want to do. I've been showing everyone who comes to the house "Look! Look! The bank vault locks, and there's a secret passage here... And look at this one, there's a hidden door under here!" :D

The Ninjago city set looks incredible... Almost 5000 pieces and it comes with something like 15 minifigures. It's more expensive than Assembly Square, which is to be expected now there's a movie series and it's aimed at kids but given the individual block and minifigure prices, it's still great value. Maybe my town needs a Japanese quarter...

Asfish, no, they're all from the Lego store. I don't think I'd be happy with a copy, and it never even crossed my mind to go down that route - I'm happy paying Lego £150 or so for those, given the amount of work that must go into designing them and adding all the little details in.

I've bought some sets of figures from China as they are cheap and Lego don't do them. All my sets come from Lego though.

Figures are ok but you can tell they are knock-offs!

Probably depends on whether your offspring is allergic to a colour.

I like that Clive ‘Very’ Cross was happy to take a complete gamble on what length and width tape he recieved, but that he got supplied a random colour, and that colour happened to be the one colour that means that it is a complete waste of money, because everyone knows that Lego is physically incapable of attaching itself to pink things.

Found it a bit odd that he said his little boy wouldn't be happy with something pink

Obviously not sure how old he is, by my son is 4.5 and likes pink and good for him :)

Maybe Clive fears that the boys liking pink affects their sporting ability or means they won't drink pints when older

Picked up Chancellor Palpatine's Shuttle (8096 ) on eBay for £30

Still has box and figures but a few small pieces missing, these are marked in the instructions so hope I can find similar among the bits we have.

For my son for Xmas, he is only 4,5 it won't last in a built state long! But he loves the older films and sees a lot of the Chancellor on the Lego Star Wars TV series

Think he spotted this on Youtube as he was well informed about it when he arrived with an edit for his Santa letter!
