Ok, so I got given an N64 for my birthday by some friends of mine. It came with the following:

F-1 World Grand Prix
Fifa 98
World Cup 98
ISS Superstar Soccer 98
Nagano Winter Olympics 98

I visited my local independent games shop yesterday and managed to pick up these:

Wave Race 64
Quake II
Hexen

He even threw in a free rumble pak and save pak for free!

I've won auctions on eBay for the following:

Goldeneye
F-Zero X
Super Mario 64

I plan on getting these in the near future:

Super Mario Kart 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Ridge Racer 64

So apart from these, can anyone tell me what I should and shouldn't be getting? I've never owned one before and I'm a bit in the dark.

I would say from personal experience you are missing Lylat Wars/StarFox 64 which I think is a must.

Zelda: Ocarina Of Time really is magnificent. I'd heartily recommend Majora's Mask too, but it's a bit of a marmite game.

OoT is one of the few games that really thought about what you could do with 3D, rather than just adding an extra dimension for marketing purposes. The Forest Temple, with its rotating corridors, is one of my top gaming things ever.

Worth noting that you'll need a rumble pack to enjoy both of those to the full, and an expansion pak for Majora's Mask.

I've not played them personally, but Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini and Paper Mario get a lot of lip service.

Another vote for Blast Corps. 1080 snowboarding is great too as it's mainly about getting to the end of the course faster than your opponent rather than pulling a load of silly tricks on the way.

Mario/DK style platformer. Good stuff - been playing it recently.

If you like this sort of thing etc.

Spacestation Silicon Valley - forget Rocket: Robot On Wheels*, THIS is the most criminally underrated game of the N64. Absolutely genius 3D platform/adventure/puzzle game from DMA Design/Rockstar North.

*Actually, don't forget Rocket: Robot On Wheels, as it's still genius itself.

You've just reminded me that I've got a copy of this that I have never played. I've just dug out my N64 so this is definitely going on tonight when I get in from work.

Revel in the majesty of birdman mode as you soar above Little States island accompanied by awesome easy listening music.

I was always a fan of the human cannonball mode myself. Just don't mention Pilotwings to GoddessJasmine or she's likely to slap you... ;)

Is there some Pilot Wings related can of worms being inadvertently opened here?

Let's just say that GJ turns Pilotwings into a fun spectator sport. I'm hoping a Wii version comes along - she might be able to control that a little better. ;)
