That was my initial thought. Hooray! We're probably both idiots.

I thought contact lenses too!
Then I thought about the cases they come in.
But yeah, they're too big for this.

Er... the plastic cover that goes over pills?

Hmm. Well, given the size they'll need to have the lines on them as per the real thing, otherwise they'll look a little odd.

I may have to invest some cash and buy some real working light kits, but I'd rather not.

If it needs to be the size of a 1p, then...paint a 1p?

Ah, if you want them with the lines, then mould green stuff over a 5p and draw the lines on.

Why don't you drug Myps and cut out his eye lenses with a scalpel.

Drug him with LSD for bigger LOLs.

It needs to be transparent, that's why. If I was just going to paint something I'd do it straight onto the bodyshell.

Right, nearly finished tidying up the bodyshell:

Image

Image

Just need to drill and file out the holes in the bumpers, tidy up and screw on the spoiler and then paint the whole shooting match. I'll then need to put on the decals (Landy and Defender logos, racing numbers etc) fit a windscreen and mudflaps. I may then fit offset wheels (i.e ones that widen the wheelbase) to fill out the wheel arches a bit.

Oh, and then drug Myp.

Shitty photography, eh? I blame the camera. It's rubbish at night, even with a bloody great spotlight on the subject, and then if I use the flash it makes things too bright to make out any detail.

Right, bodyshell is now tidied and I've just sprayed the orange.

Image

I really like the colour so rather than spray black over most of the body and leave the orange as a "vinyl" design, I'll do the trim and vinyl design in black as per the original photo of a yellow one I posted.

I may need to find some "Tango" decals, mind.

:this: I love that orange! I used to have a Land Rover that had a stripe close to that color and I had forgotten how cool it looked until I found that picture of yours..

...and totally unrelated to the car, now I'm resisting the urge to paint my XBox panel like orange/black.. thinking about it yellow/black & orange/black must be my favorite color(-combinations) :)

The Radio Controlled Aeroplane blog also mentions Electric RC Planes and Radio Controlled Model Aircraft and Radio Controlled Planes, I noticed.

However, tentative welcome to Zemalf!

He likes my orange colour though, so I don't care if he's a spambot.

I fucked up with some painting (had forgot about the hole in the side when spraying the inside of the wheel arches and so black got on the orange where I didn't want it) so had to sand down and respray part of it. Very annoying.

Just need to put racing numbers in the white boxes, fill in the registration number, add the spoiler, spray the lot with laquer. And then maybe add a windscreen and mudflaps and do something about the headlights.

The Riot's a big wide wheelbase thing, isn't it? You'll struggle to get anything "scale" to fit it, I think.

Test flew another new toy yesterday:
Image

Shaky looking flying because this was the very first flight and I was busy trying to get it trimmed out and stuff. Also I'm an idiot who fitted the undercarriage the wrong way and so it nosed over on landing and was also probably a bit tail-heavy. But it came back in one piece which counts as a triumph.

Very nice! Thing that always gets me about those things is how quick they go, especially when landing. But yes, in one piece, most important thing.

Re: headlights for Kissyfur.

I'd try this - cut the flat top off of one of those blank CD/DVD spindle cases - you know the ones that come in 25 or 50. Gently heat the plastic in the oven, while doing this, get two flat pieces of wood or metal about the required size to cover it and some fine wire mesh and then clamp the softened plastic in between to harden, hopefully resulting in a sheet of still clear plastic which has taken on a suitable texture. You might even be able to use acetate sheet from a decent art shop. You can then cut to size the lenses that you need with a decent craft knife and gently hone the edges with 6 or 1200 grade wet and dry. Or even better get some wire mesh over the lenses anyway.

I got a Tomy Micro Buggy for Christmas (Bit Char-G version of Old Tamiya kits!) it's ace and runs forever compared to my old Bit Char-G...

But now I want to build a proper Tamiya RC buggy. Not cheap either are they :(

Where's the cheapest place for something like a Tamiya Hornet/Grasshopper or similar kit with all the radio gubbins, battery & quick charger?

I got my Riot from Modelsport. They are quite good.

RC-Fever have the Grasshopper cheaper, though. I've not used them before, so buyer beware.
