Collingwood was given run out bythe 3rd ump, but NZ withdrew the appeal when Colly claimed that he left his crease the on-field ump had declared "over". Hence, confusion.

Hang on though, it sort of doesn't matter, does it? I mean, aren't England through to the semi-final no matter what?

Perhaps we are just deliberately being rubbish again today, so we can be extra good in the next match.

That'll be it for sure. :luv:

Yeah, but we romped it in the first one so it's good to be stretched once in a while :)

Arse. Pietersen walked round one on leg stump from right arm round. Normal service resumes. Move along, nothing to see here.

Apart from when he gets a century which puts your team in a great position. :)

He's got his century, but for his first half hour yesterday I was worried we wouldn't pass their first innings total with 40 odd to go.

I hope this match changes SA's 'We MUST have a black bowler' policy and they drop Ntini. The quota system is damaging their team again, when they are playing with one arm tied behind their backs. Doubt it will though.

No, it was during a particularly sluggish session during 2005 (Old Trafford I think) when we had a significant first innings lead, but the weather had reduced the amount of time left in the game, and in the second innings he then cut the run rate from about 4 an over to 2. My argument being that one batsman (the higher order player) should rightfully protect his wicket but the other should slash out, and that going at this rate, the match would end in a draw from a position of almost certain victory, saving the Australians scalps.

The match ended in a draw, saving the Australians scalps.

Post subject:  Re: Cricket

I think the problem is, he has scored big, scored average and scored low, as have most players. However, he's rarely produced a match winning/match saving performance.

The stat aside about never getting a century without someone else doing it, he just doesn't stick in the mind as having converted a game regularly (although you can probably argue he has, I just can't recall it). And this is reflected by the fact he has played 50 tests and never got man of the match. His wiki entry just constantly flows thus: Lost form, under pressure, big score, started series badly, struggled, big score.

Oh, and he's a villa fan. I knew there was something else.

News for you Matthew, these things have been invented called aeroplanes, which means it no longer takes 3 weeks to travel for an overseas tour.
