Post subject:  24th July - Shunt

Hello. Some of us went to Shunt a while ago, and it was great. I seem to remember people saying that they would have liked to go, but weren't available the night we went.

So let's go again. Thursday seemed to be a good night for it, so Thursday of the week after next (24th)?

For those that don't know:

I'd love to come down, but can only visit London on a weekend, really.

The Dreaded Thesis of Doom: Creator of Procrastination and Killer of Social Life, has bound me to it's deep and dark will.

So I have no time to socialise for the next 54 days.

And anyone who says this is just an excuse so that I don't have to buy you that beer I owe you is lying.

If you could all come to my local pub, that would be better.

Or perhaps if you gave me enough notice I could get the Friday off. It's a bit too soon for that.

Gutted that I will be missing shunt again, I never should have left last time.
Also people should take Hello Title signs to introduce themselves.

This sounds a potential opportunity for excellence, so I hope I shall be able to attend.

I'm staying away from that wall though - that thing was lethal.

Awesomes!

You have an unfair advantage for the usual awkward "Finding the internet geeks in the pub" task at the start of the evening.

You should all wear 'Hello Titler' badges.

Post subject:  Re: Shunt

Who (or what) is Titler?

Author:  CUS [ Thu Jul 10, 2008 13:44 ]
Post subject:  Re: Shunt

Imagine me, but instead of being tersely condescending and rude to lovely people without reason, a post from Titler was dreaded because he was very verbosely condescending and a bore. So, someone would post 'Hey, I really like chips, as I said last night to the woman, as we prepped for our anniversary tomorrow.', and he would respond with a 3000 word treatise on why referring to your sexual partner purely by their gender was misogynistic and proof that the aforementioned anniversary-expectee was a bastard to all womankind. And - and - he'd do so frequently whilst saying things like 'remarked Titler, admiring his devilish junctioning of wit and forthrightness there, alas, probably the only one to do so' in every other sodding sentence. Unless you're The Rock, you can't get away with referring to yourself in the third person.

Post subject:  Re: Shunt

Lave can. Fact.

Author:  Squirt [ Thu Jul 10, 2008 14:21 ]
Post subject:  Re: Shunt

Yes, he had a remarkable ability to come across as smug and bitter at the same time. A casual discussion about Harry Potter would result in a 1000 treatise about how everyone else were mindless sheep, and how only he really understood it, and how stupid we were, and how the world ignored him and didn't understand genius like him.

Which was odd, because when he wasn't being crazy he seemed fairly normal.

I don't like harry potter either, but rather than tell you you're all idiots I merely plan to kill JK Rowling. You have to cut these things off at the source, people.

It was WoS. There's a link around somewhere.

We need a 'Memes Explained' link somewhere.

FTFY.

@bobbyaro - See viewtopic.php?f=3&t=882&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=titler&start=60, and the link to the WoS forum within it. (Search that works = excellent)
