In retro gamer, there has bene an advert for a free magic starter pack,
i never was interested in magic before, but hey i thought, i fill in the form..

so i got a mail last week i could pick it up in the Hague, now i'm not that often in the Hague, but today i am, so i cycle through the lovely green venerable hedge of the count, and pick up my set. 40 cards. But...

Rules are not included....

A starterset.. without rules.... i uttered...

so now i'm looking for a nice guide, preferebly printable...

any idea?

I really enjoyed magic the gathering until I realised that new booster sets made your decks worthless. That said I've got a big box of 4th edition cards, and some of those Icey set ones from back in my childhood. I wonder if they are worth anything...

I would be all over a DS magic game akin to the Yu-Gi-Oh ones.

Sorry can't help with the manual.

How about this http://www.wizards.com/magic/rules/Magi ... 10E_EN.pdf

Different languages on this page http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=magic/rules but no Dutch by the looks of it.

I'm not sure but Magic Online might even have a tutorial.

Again, I use to play Magic in my late teens but nothing competitive though.

Me too.

I have the comprehensive rules of Magic stored in my brain, if that helps.

Doesn't it play like Top Trumps but with copious B.O.?

How long ago? I did it twice and it was on the second go when the website changed format that I got them.

About six months ago, at a guess.

EDIT: Actually, 23rd of October last year.

No, alas. I was foolishly into collecting these when I was young, and have boxes and boxes of them. Somehow, I still seem to have no valuable cards at all. Perhaps I have a Flash lying around somewhere, but that's pretty much it.

I strongly advise against getting into Magic, it's life and money eating without actually being any fun, and it's become increasingly bland and focus-grouped over the years. It did introduce me to Phil Foglio, though. His art was my favourite thing about the game before they stopped using him.

My wife and I bought World of Warcraft card game starter sets when they came out. We thought we could just use the cards to play, but then you needed more table space than we've got and markers and dice and all sorts of stuff and we never bothered to play.

Oh, you mean Magic: The Gathering. Not, you know, magic.

Anyway, have a look at this chap and buy magic stuff off him. He's really good, a decent chap, and is probably going to be huge.

If you wander over to home of the underdogs they have a CD rip of the original Micropose game. It's a sod to get to work under XP (and probably impossible under Vista) but that's probably the best way to learn the game.

He does appear to have the natural charisma of an ant, though. I liked
