Fuck that shit, here comes Mongo!

£29.97 - which is two quid more than at the site you found, Mr. Dimrill, but with the added bonus of being Tesco. Unless this is an internet-only deal. I can't tell.

Are there any grown-ups who shop at Tesco who could tell me please?

Internet/Real life prices seem to differ in the supermarkets. Unfortunately not in a "it's always cheaper in one then the other" kind of way.
In short, I don't know. :'(

Anybody got this then or what? I'm getting a network error when I try to play online. Says something about port forwarding on my router. But, I don't see why this is a problem because I've never had a problem like this before with the 360.

If it's anything like the PS3 version, the Campaign mode is basically exactly the same as playing online, just with bots.

I have it, and have played it against bots and online for a few matches, and have watched someone else play it for a ew matches whilst I ate a sandwich. Just in basic deathmatch. I think I can summarize it thusly based on this:

It's a shiny new Unreal Tournament! On your 360! That's pretty much it. If you have never played UT then you'll have to wait until someone plays it for a bit longer sorry ;)

I think that there is voice chat, but it seems like most players weren't bothering with it. Also, your look/turning controls are a bit odd, having an acceleration quite unlike that in CoD4 or Halo 3 (for example). It takes a little bit of getting used to, but it is configurable and not game-breaking or owt.

I think, unless there are any issues with the port, fans of UT will like it lots. It's comfortingly familiar, and I found myself rapidly remembering some of my typical moves and attacks, the controller no obstacle. The controls are - curious turning cycle considered - responsive, simple, and I can't see them being an obstacle for PC vets.

The (main) issue I had with the above mentioned PS2 UT, was a quite frankly ridiculous turning time, cf the PC version. Your comments above make me nervous. Try or buy?

@bobajon: hmm, I haven't directly seen any network errors, but there didn't seem to be many servers (or perhaps indeed, there was an issue just starting then, to wildly speculate). I haven't tried it aain since - I will try it aain tomorrow if I can.

@bobbyaro: the turnin√ cycle is definitely a bit... odd, so if that is something that bothered you on the previous version then mm, I would definitely try first. Especially if there is indeed some kind of network error currently affecting things...

It's my router! Think I've fixed it, but I'm in need of a new one anyway.

In other news, UT3 is absolutely excellent. Few little niggles, which I'll probably whinge about tomorrow when I can be arsed, but it's a good solid game of UT on my massive telly. Plus, joypad control is a lot better than I'd imagined. The twitchy shooting you need to do in UT lends itself to mouse and keyboard, but they've made it work. Definitely need everyone playing this together sometime soon.

I might pick it up on payday (15th) if interest lasts until then. And it's cheap.

I'm still enjoying this immensely, but it feels like a bit of a step back from the ultimate edition of awesome that was UT2004. They've gotten rid of bombing run and assault, and they've combined onslaught and that other one to make warzone. Or something. Anyway, there's less game modes, and I loved bombing run. And assault was fantastic on co-op. I hope someone releases mods with these modes in.

I now has this.

First impressions: Wee, blammo blammo shooty shooty. I like it. More people buy it.

Given that games like Doom, Duke3D, and Unreal are my favoritest FPSs, it's no real surprise I like it, mind.

:this: I would like the chance to moan about not being invited to newer, and faster-paced FPS than CoD4 - and UTIII certainly fits that bill. It's crazy gibbing chaos all over the shop! Looks lovely, too, as you'd expect.

Also: I have already found a little beneficial glitch on one map, bwahahaha...

I paid £25, due to (1)inability to resist the game, given quite how much I liked Unreal(lots and lots and lots and lots), and it's subsequent tournaments(Lots and lots, but not as much. Mainly due to the nerfing of the sniper rifle (So that you had to be tedious and sit still to use it)). (2)Dimrill, in the bargain thread.

So, what times would suit folks? Before you all depart from work and stuff, we should arrange this. I'm around all night, every night, as ever, so it'd be pointless for me to say 'I can be around at <x> time'. I know jonarob tends to favour popping up later (missus), but how about 'everyone else'?

PLAYING TONIGHT
-----------------

CUS
Mr Dave (but 'not very good')
Bluce Ree (but 'potentially')
jonarob (but it's jonarob)

No, no. You'd have to buy the game but then never be asked to play it. YOU'RE GETTING CUS WRONG! STOP GETTING CUS WRONG! *mimes some of CUS' more iconic posts, in a static home*

Can someone with the 360 version confirm -- is this push-to-talk voice? Like Halo 3 does? Because the PS3 version works like that and it's shit.

It does appear to need it, although apparently there's some kind of bug which you can exploit to stop the requirement.

Just been playing through the campaign a bit more. Doing it Coop would be excellent, as I just had a rather difficult mission. Mainly because my bot team mates were utterly stupid, and we were quite outnumbered anyway (Even after I'd played the "Reduce the enemy team by 2" card I'd earned earlier)

Managed it though - they weren't reckoning for my enormous tank. Hooray tanky tanky - and was rewarded by a rather fun 30G and a fun straight out deathmatch game which was awesomely fun.

Was that the one just before the end of the second chapter? I remember it being a proper ball ache. The achievements are ridiculously tough, as well. They'll take some time.

Aye that would be the one. Third chapter is not putting up anywhere near as much of a struggle (yet) although it's certainly getting less than easy. How you're supposed to do it on insane, I dare not think.

With a keyboard and mouse! I'd definitely like to play it through on co-op some time. How many people can play at the same time?

I find the AI "help" to be less than helpful, unless you tell them exactly what to do all of the time. Particularly on the node ones, they'll defend the wrong node instead of moving forward to take the next one, which is extremely annoying. I don't remember the bots being so shit in UT2K4. Then again, you're outnumbered in most of the campaign modes.

Tell me about it. Just reached "Islander", and all they have to do is protect one node, immediately next to the orb and respawn points while I go off into enemy territory and destroy the enemy core. Can they do this? No. I tell them to defend, and the entire team shows up at the air support node instead, which we don't need. Tell them to hold their position next to the prime node, and they just sit there and watch it ge destroyed. In fact, no matter what I tell them to do, they seem to be incapable of doing anything useful.
