Instagib isn't that great, imho.
Fair enough. It's very much an acquired taste.
You know what was ace? The second game we played on Avalanche, the snowy Warfare level last night. The game where we stuffed them in about five minutes flat. We captured the prime node and I saw most of you scatter off to the centre node, so I jumped on my hoverboard and zoomed off to the East node instead. Fragged a bot, captured the node, and repaired it to full strength, getting a Darkwalker for my troubles.
Aside: for the non-UT3 players, the Darkwalker is a devestating alien vehicle which resembles the giant walkers from War of the Worlds. Looks like this:

I turned the Darkwalker on the centre node ready to mop up resistence, but you guys had already captured it. I killed a few members of the blue team as they tried to get into the node, then slowly stomped up the hill towards the enemy base. I think someone jumped into my secondary turret there, and then it happened. I emerged from the cavern bit into the long hill in the bright daylight up towards the enemy base. A bunch of blue team members were running down the hill, and I started to sweep the extremely powerful lasers of the Deathwalker over them, killing them instantly. Red team members were streaming through the legs of my walker and pelting up the hill, in fast-moving vehicles or on hoverboards, firing into the respawning blue team members. In all I think pretty much all 16 active players were fighting over that hill at that time.
It was awesomesauce.
Oh, I finally found a reasonable summary of how to play Warfare mode. For those still confused, see if this helps:

"Warfare (formerly known as Conquest): An amalgamation of Onslaught and Assault. While basic game rules are equal to those of Onslaught, Warfare adds unlinked nodes which can always be captured (supplying the captured team with vehicles and a spawnpoint) and countdown nodes (which, after being captured and defended for a certain period of time, create a vehicle or trigger an event helpful to the capturing team) as well as the orb, which can be used to instantly capture and defend nodes."
The goal of Warfare is to destroy the enemy Power Core by either capturing the Node linked to it (allowing your team to damage the Core) or by capturing a Support Node that can damage the Core when it's kept under your control (Floodgate and Power Surge maps). Some Support Nodes do other things if they are captured like damage enemy Nodes and spawn important vehicles. To capture a Node just walk over the base and build it up faster using the Link Gun alt-fire, the Orb, Nightshade primary fire or Scavenger primary fire (Nodes do construct by themselves but are extremely slow doing it). To destroy a Node under enemy control shoot the base or the shielded part above but some weapons will do more damage than others (Vehicle weapons, Flak, Rocket, Shock and Link are good). Nodes under fire will not allow players to spawn there if the damage occurs at least every 5 seconds but you can still teleport to it as long as you control it.
Another important aspect to Warfare is each base and some Nodes provide your team with the Orb. The Orb is basically your teams "node superweapon" as it will instantly capture a Node or protect it from enemy fire if your around that Node. Orbs can't be carried in vehicles so you have the choice of Hoverboard or grappling to a vehicle to get around the map with it. Just be careful as Orb carriers are shown on the minimap plus project a tall beam of light so it's pretty obvious where they are on the map. You can sit in a Beam/Rocket Turret w/ a Orb and even detonate the enemy Orb if they drop it (getting killed or falling from extreme height) by going over it and hit the "use" button.
Warfare is by far the most complex of the UT3 game type so it's key to have a balanced approach towards all the objectives.
There's also a guide to the Warfare maps
