Not at all surprising though. Demos take a rather large amount of time to do, and many developers decide not to bother.

I'll get it when one of two conditions are met.

Firstly: Price drops betwixt £10-£20.

Secondly: All you fuckers buy it then taunt me into buying it for more than this.

Is that really the case with UT though, surely it is just a case of releasing one level. They don't need to do any time delays or anything, and can limit the No. bots if required. I don't know, but I know they released demos in the past, as it was a demo version of UT that I first played. It had 8(!) levels on it, but I played it LOADS.

I just like to check out a game nowadays before forking 30 quid on it. I have wasted too much money on games which I don't play cos they are rubbish when I get them home to spend money on something I haven't tried.

It's UT with even betterer graphics and Xbox Live related goodness.

Indeed, it just felt completely natural having played previous iterations in the series.

so does anyone play this anymore, I got this yesterday from my friends lovefilm and played a few drunken rounds team deathmatch last night and I seem to be awesome, had the most kills in the last two rounds I played, how well did others get into it?

I think it's great, and would like to play against friends. However, those of us with the game have been ever so slightly rubbish at organising ourselves.

Just noticed CEX sell this for £22, and have stock in the Cardiff store. That means I can get it for "free" (well, just trade-ins), so I might pick this up tomorrow if anyone fancies a game over the weekend.

Bah, I say. I haven't liked a UT game since the original... it went from nice, chunky shootery fun to trying to shoot tiny, fast moving people hundreds of miles away in an almost pitch-black room.

Pitch black? No.

There's also the ability to slow the game down too.

It's on, bitches! I cunningly took Perkies to Gamestation and said, "hey, look, there's UTIII... in the 2 for £30... and there are two copies...."

So now we both have it. Bezzie tonight?

Perkies won't be able to play (much) tonight, he's got a late shift today and an early tomorrow.

Zardoz -- go buy it now!

Sheepeh and Zardoz need to go to Gamestation together and buy two copies.

No, I don't understand geography; to me you all live in a vague cloud called "England".

They have lots of other games in the same deal. Dimmers pointed out elsewhere that Battlefield: Bad Company is in there, dunno if you have that. It might have been my second choice if Perkies hadn't agreed to get UT3.

I really can't even justify buying one at the moment, seeing as I've just got Guitar Hero World Tour and Fifa 09. :(

My next purchase is going to be Fallout3 AFTER I have finished Pixie Quest AND Dead Space.

I am however heading into town now.

Yes. As I pointed out at the time, I haven't gotten on with a UT game since the original, but I agree we do DESPERATELY need a new shooty game and this could well be it, given it features a tripod thing that can roll into a ball and crush j00.

What a fucking wild goose chase:

Game station: 2 for £40
Game: Preowned £29.99
Blockbuster: Didn't have any

Stick it up your arse.

The staff at Z's local Gamestation obviously haven't got around to replacing the stickers. They're probably too busy transporting bread up cobbled hills and racing their pigeons.

They had some area boss man (mid level boss maybe) in and had new Christmassy t-shirts on looking all clean and glum (as clean as an Emo can get) so I didn't bother them.

This just in: I've been asked to come in later tomorrow due to the rugby match, so I don't have to be in until 10am (as opposed to 8am) which could in theory increase potential gaming time.

That is indeed good. It feels like UT in precisely the way I felt UT2003 and 2004 didn't. Playing Facing Worlds was like going back in time nine years. The hoverboard is amusing, the old favourites (flak cannon, even if it looks ridiculous) are as you remembered them, and vehicles, though I didn't get much time in those.

The only things I found less than perfect were the jumping (you only do a pathetic lurch most of the time, unless you double jump, which in fact means you can tailor your jump to what you need - height or distance) and the fact that the bots are ridiculously translocator-happy.

I've decided I can't get this. It's too close to Christmas and I've already splurged out on (expensive) games recently. I'll have to wait and pick it up in January.

Plus I've never played UT before, so it won't have the nostalgia factor for me.

Yeah, we will definitely do some vCTF or some better Warfare maps next time.

To be fair, that's how most good human players play CTF too. We can no-translocate mutator the game if it bothers people.

Boo-urns! I don't think nostalgia changes things -- this is a great game in its own right.

It's recently gotten cheap enough (it's in the Gamestation two-for-£30 offer) for impulse buying.
