Has anybody seen this? It was documentary on the History Channel I believe, but I bought the DVD (only available in Region 1:(). It's excellent stuff, very interesting.

Read about it here:

Also, inspired by this, I've taken delivery of a book, The World Without Us, which I'm gonna start reading tonight.

Discussion away!

Wasn't it on Channel 4 recently? Lots of CGI stuff.

Aw was it? I'm not sure it was the same one, there's a couple of documentaries around on a similar theme, but this one is supposed to be the daddy.

I'm pretty certain that's the same one. I saw it on Channel 4 when I was visiting the folks in Scotland at the end of May. I thought it was quite enjoyable, although a lot of the CGI effects were repeated rather too often for my liking.

I enjoyed it.

What I want to know is if there will be any traces of us left after millions of years. Any bunkers that might be uncovered by the new technological cockroach races, or something like that.

I thought it was pretty good, although their predictions of how city streets would look after a few years seemed way out of whack with their real life example of two decades worth of decay in Pripryat near Chernobyl.

Yeah, but Chernobyl had a load of radiation, which kinda shits on plant growth.

I don't think it did, nearly as much as anyone expected, the wildlife and plants in the area actually thrived, it just seemed that it took longer than they were predicting in the programme for soil to accumulate on the streets etc.

Not sure it did, actually. They studied the area and were rather surprised to find plants and animals carrying on as if nothing had happened. Just with more legs.

I liked the fact that the Hoover Damn would keep all the Las Vegas lights going for ages afterwards. And he fact that cats would end up ruling the world.
