So the games industry is going to a massive phase of consolidation

MS
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/ ... -bandicoot
And bethesda and much more

Sony
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/ ... are-coming
(while releasing mlb22 now for xbox and switch)

And with gamespass, and ps plus 2 (with ps now) as well. What will this mean for our gaming ecosystems and our little hobby... i'm quite worried..

Why?

With the number of "indies" there are now there is a greater choice of games compared to when these companies were at their peak.

Microsoft are actually making games MORE accessible - xcloud putting xbox games on your phone, your PC, anything with a web browser... For £70/yr or whatever. Oh, and sure your Xbox if you like but don't feel like you have to?

Not to mention their first party stuff is directly ported to pc and can even be bought through Steam!

Sure, it's all for Microsoft's evil corporate purposes and they'll fuck it up at some point, but right now it's great for gamers.

However Sony buying Bungie in particular just comes across as a giant "fuck you!" tantrum.

They ought to buy 22 Cans and get Molytwat to travel to Japan to tell them how to suck eggs.
