My Shed has seen better days, and it is too big, now I have a separate bike shed. I think I could get away with 6x4. I have one in a house in Stoke. It doesn't seem very sturdy to me, but goodness knows how old it might be.

I'd be tempted to go for a plastic one if maintenance free is the biggest factor. |

Metal sheds tend to suffer with condensation more than plastic or wood. And go for a 5x7. It looks like it takes up barely any extra room but gives 50% more space. You will always fill it. |

Metal sheds sometimes don't have floors. I considered one but they looked super flimsy. We ended up getting an 8x6 Keter shed and it's great. It seemed to join together well until one particularly hard bit. I concluded they'd sent us the wrong part but my wife and inlaws all took the piss out of me for the rest of the day(call yourself an engineer etc) so I persevered longer than I should have because I had a point to prove and how could they possibly send the wrong part in a prefab kit, which they seemed to validate on the online chat. Anyway, it was the wrong part. Fuckers. Once I had the right part it went together no bother. Most of it is click in place, couple of parts need screws drilled in. Two people should be able to do it in a couple of hours. |

What are you wanting to keep in there though? I have a huge metal shed at the current place and we've just filled it with junk. There are a lot of cobwebs in there too. And is there already a base or slab? I'd say that the base, and secure fittings are probably just as important as the shed material itself. In the old house, I had a small metal shed that I bought off some bloke. I used it for the mower and some tools. I didnt even bother to make a base for it, I just plopped it down on the ground. It was a cheapy and eventually the door latch broke off but that didn't really matter, I just used some tek-screws to roughly fix it back on. It had sharp edges though and frankly didn't look great. Also it blew over in some strong wind and got a bit bent, but I didn't really care much and just bent it back into shape. Cheap metal is not really as durable as you'd think. Then again, for under 200 quid, what else are you really expecting. |

The bikes are kept in a bike shed, so locked away securely. |
