Remember kids, if your using Power query to extract a YYYYWW from a "W01/2025(30/12/2024)" thing, don't set it up so you get the year from the very end and the week from the start as you're going to spend an hour working out why values in week 1 2024 are far too high

It's Dimrill Day, and big snuggly huggums could not be more deserved by anyone more than they are by our lovely Dimmers.

I see the guardian has felt a need to increase the word count on its letters page.

This bit is particularly savage

Quote:

"A tattoo doesn’t stop you getting a job any more. They’re kind of expensive and middle class and, unless you cover your neck or face, have ceased to effectively convey rebellion. Indeed, if you’re 20 and can afford a tattoo in this economy, you’re probably still living at home with your parents."

They'll do a thing about dogs not being allowed in cafes next month, so people can compare them to children in the comments.

Polly Filla at its finest.

Just split one of those 0.0 Guinness cans with Russell (year, we’re having a proper mad one here tonight), and it was good. I thought it had a very slightly oily aftertaste, but that may have been my imagination, or that I’d had it not long after some apple.

I bought it to make a sausage casserole with, but Ocado didn’t actually bring the sausages.

As do I.
A friend was the son of the caretaker at the primary school opposite me, so he could borrow a computer in the holidays.
Compared to our Dragon 32, this was mind blowing stuff.

We're ordering club kit for the board game group, and under the logo there's space for your name and a motto.

Someone said they couldn't think of one, so I suggested "ask me about Loom". When they replied with "I'll bite ... tell me about Loom" I failed to follow through.

Yeah, I guess I'd only expect people 40+ to intrinsically know the reference.

When I bought my loom I put up a picture of something I was weaving with the caption ‘ask me about Loom’ and people just asked me about my loom :(

Streaming from my Steam Deck to the Steam Link plugged into my tellybox works better than streaming from my PC, which is odd given that the PC is hardwired into Ethernet and the Steam Deck most definitely isn't.

Nice way to play MGS2 and 3 though!

Anyone around in That London on the evening of Fri 23rd, or during the day on the 24th? I've got this London Winter Run 10K on the Sunday so I'm down for the weekend, if anyone wants to grab a beer or a cocktail or whatever, I'm available!

I wrote a poem about seeing a farm animal eating some prickly bushes on my walk yesterday:

Quote:

Whilst on a walk I saw a horse eating some gorse
From that moment forwards I knew my course
You know, I hate rhymes that you have to force
So they'll be no lines ending in boss or arse or nurse
Apart from that previous one ofcourse
I looked online for various words to source
I feared I'd have to resort to speaking in Norse
Or the dots and dashes of that code by Morse
You might think resorting to that would be a little coarse
But I'm not going to debate you or argue myself hoarse
This is not the time or place for that sort of discourse
I'm left wondering if I'll turn to the ole' sauce
A path that I very much do not endorse
But the suitable words are turning pauce
So I'll return to the gorse being eaten by that horse

I'm not sure it's normal for me to have so many T-shirts from the one place that I've just managed to pack them all into a suitcase, rolled up tight, 2 deep on the one side of the suitcase and 3 deep on the other side.
