My brother just had this and was trying to get it working for my Ma again. I bought it for her YEARS ago and would put the games on for her.

He asked me how it works and I can’t remember. I assumed it was just DS roms copies onto the Micro DS, but was there anything else to it. Is there any chance of it working now, does anybody know?

I believe it'll just be a matter of copying ROMS to the SD card. If you put it in a PC, you'll probably be able to see where the ROMS currently sit on it and put some more in the same folder.

I thought that was the case but couldn’t remember for sure. Thank you!

Some of them do need either a menu program or some type of firmware file as well

This page / thread is *long* but has just about every firmware patch file that you would need for just about any card

https://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefa ... es.267243/

From memory that looks looks an R4 'clone' card
I'd start with just putting the files on but if it does not work then post what you can see on the card itself and we can see what can be done

Ooh, is that one that takes a miniSD card?

I really liked them - they were a nice size. Small, but not so small you could accidentally inhale them like microSD cards... Shame they died out as a format.

We have an R4 in our DS, but being quite a few years old now it’s not as reliable as it once was - often the DS doesn’t realise it’s inserted when you power it on.

Turning off and on a few times usually sorts it eventually though.

It is, if I remember correctly. Both micro SDs and the teeny SIM cards now give me that feeling like I might accidentally inhale them.

That’s good info, because my brother said when he got it home to test it, his DS didn’t recognise it.

Can you still get 'new' flashcarts (or whatever they are called)? I had one, but I can't remember the name, and it was a little flaky even back then so I can't imagine it will be any better after being left in a box for many many years.

We recently set up a wii for the kiddos, and I found my old DS lite and charger... I'm thinking the DS might be fun for them to play a little bit of.

Give it a go. My brother got this one working yesterday and it hadn’t been working for years, though when I googled for them on Tuesday you do seem to be able to buy them.

This was the link I’d sent to my brother, though to be honest it was just the first one that came up. They also sell carts preloaded with loads of games on that site.
