Ditto. We may have plenty of problems, but the Internal IT and infrastructure is holding up nicely.

We’ve also used this as an opportunity to force everyone onto Teams from Skype.
My only annoyance is that we didn’t get our MFA tokens delivered before we closed the offices.

Rang my bank today to see if they’d give me a 3mo repayment holiday on my loan and they’ve put me on a callback list – someone will call me back within 3 days.

Any news on the flat?

The occasional viewing but it’s all gone rather quiet.

I'm not paying my rent for three months, my letting agent and landlord can go fuck themselves. I'm going to buy a new PC, this corona crisis is great, bar the deaths, obviously.

Finally someone recognises how important you are.

After a day of WFH/supply teaching, I have gone for a run. Need to make my lungs big in case I get the virus.

First case confirmed on the island last night, considering people have already been panic buying for days (fucking idiots), doubtless that will escalate now.

There's a chilling Serling-era "Twilight Zone" episode about the one guy in a street with a nuclear bunker when the sirens go off. Probably not going to be added to my feel-good apocalypse viewing list.

Uh fuck your employer. Business can get loans to cover costs, all they're doing is passing the costs onto you. Fuck them in both eyeholes.

Or claim on insurance.

Maybe not, there are others with better knowledge here but my landlord reckons his business isn't covered for previously unknown diseases since sars was a thing.

I believe they may have to change their stance on this and count is as a known disease.

As a representative of the insurance industry, I wish you luck with that. There’s not a legal leg to stand on, and the overall global cost of the insurance industry ‘taking one for the team’ would bankrupt most companies that offered business interruption insurance.

Pandemic insurance has been available for businesses to buy, to cover this specific instance, just nobody ever bought it. Until now, funnily enough.

Stable doors and all that.

You’re the expert, not me. I was just reading how it affected businesses and what the government could do to assist them.

By hopefully shafting the trash industry full of crooks known as insurance. ;)

The best you’ll get is if the government decides to pay it, and the easiest way will be via people making insurance claims and the insurance companies getting the cash from the government.

I mean, I can understand his thinking. We've had to lay people off, our takings are down massively. Barring a government order to close, a lot of pubs/restaurants don't have the financial backing to pay staff for weeks/months without having any income. The best thing will be a government mandate to close and secure funding for the staffs wages, but I can't see that happening.

It's all cars that were ordered a few months back, so it's partly understandable. We were expecting a drop off of people postponing collection due to staying at home, but we haven't seen that at all. People seem to be carrying on as normal.

John Lennon sang it better.

A fun fact about Imagine that I recently learned is that around the same time as Lennon was crooning "Imagine no possessions / I wonder if you can / No need for greed or hunger / A brotherhood of man / Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you", him and Yoko Ono were purchasing the Manhattan apartment directly beneath theirs and installing a custom aircon unit so it could be used to store their vast collection of fur coats at the correct temperature and humidity.

Also, IIRC, Imagine sold like dogshit until Lennon died.

I kept my daughter off school these last few days, she missed shirt signing day today! FFS, it's a small thing to help the overall scheme of things, but it's a massive thing for her. Something I didn't even think of.

My wife went to try to buy a few bits from our local Morrisons yesterday morning.

It was very busy, but she picked up a pack of toilet rolls, some milk, baked beans, flour and a couple of other things, and joined a queue for the checkout. After 35 minutes she was still in the queue, hardly moving, too hot, and beginning to feel faint. She had to leave the basket and come home.

We usually do our main shopping on Saturday morning, but as I’m on call this weekend I’ll be at work, so we tried Asda last night when I got in from work. Although it wasn’t madly busy, it obviously had been, because there was very little milk, no toilet rolls, no bread, very few tinned or frozen foods.

We’re not desperate yet, but I hope they impose their ‘two items of food types per customer’ limit or we’re going to be struggling to get the essentials.

That is sad. Would it be possible to do a postal round robin of the shirt? Not the most hygienic solution, I guess.

The supermarkets are a bit hit and miss by me, with different products missing in different places but there's no problems buying enough to eat.
We saw people walking out of Food Warehouse with loo rolls so called in and got a 24 pack. Would have bought less, but that was the only size they had.

I was reading it's fatal for 1 in 10000 for under 20s, and 1 in 6 for over 80s which is quite the concern.

Seriously though, I gave her a right ticking off over the phone. Hopefully she'll get it but I'll speak to my brother later and tell him to tell her the same.
