I have a work email that seems to end up in every ones junk folder whenever I try and send something.

It doesn't seem to matter if there's an attachment or not, they still end up in there.

Is there any way I can stop this from happening? Short of sending a text soon after I've sent an email of course...

I assume you’re using your own domain name email? Try setting up an SPF record in the DNS management section of your domain provider’s control panel.

:this:

The last bit of that guide also mentions settings up DKIM/DMARC too. I've got that set up for my site and it seems to have helped a bit.

Who's your email with? As well as the two above, if your email is with e.g. your web hosting, it's worth checking if your mail server IP has been blacklisted.

Thanks for the help so far!

I'm with 123.reg with my website domain and email. How do I check if the IP server has been blacklisted?

Stick your domain in and see if it comes up with anything as blacklisted - if you have not setup DKIM/DMARC then you'll probably get a warning telling you its not set.

It looks like there's a number of issues... Now, how on earth do I solve them or should I be jumping on 123.reg to help me here?

Get in touch with 123-reg about the blacklisting - although they're normally shit so would expect them to fob you off.

They have a page on adding an SPF record which you might find useful -
https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/domai ... main-name/

That's usually enough to be honest. I only bother with DMARC if I absolutely have to.

I'm confused.. It's asking me to change my name servers to the 123.reg default but do I want to do that if they're currently pointing to ns1.wordpress.com? My website is a wordpress website...

You can’t manage your DNS via 123-reg if you use 3rd party nameservers. You will need to manage it via Wordpress or ask them to do it on your behalf.

If you change your nameservers to 123-reg your site will stop working, so don’t do that.

That's what I thought as I seem to remember changing them in the first place to get the thing working.

Sorry, when you said you were with 123-reg for "website domain and email" I imagined a comma in there that didn't actually exist - my bad.

So to add the SPF record you'll need to edit your DNS at WordPress' side:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/

But you'll probably want to include the 123-reg IP (from that support article) and the WP IP (otherwise it might affect your WP emails) and I don't know what the correct WordPress.com IP is. They should be able to help if you get in touch with support.

Also ignore the UCEPROTECT stuff on there - they are a scammy blacklisting company that will blacklist you and then will remove you after 7 days or you pay them money (don't pay them!) - they blacklisted all of Amazon AWS last week.

Just to add my thanks to everyone in this thread. I used to be responsible for DNS for a previous employer, but still struggle to remember/understand the various types of record. Anyway, this thread inspired me to try using my work email to contact the psychologist who did my autism assessment, in case my emails to her since November were going into her spam folder; it turns out they were, and she now has the information she needed to complete my report. (I've now added SPF and DKIM records to my domain, so hopefully it won't happen again.)

So, thanks!

After going back and forth between 123reg and Wordpress, it looks like I finally have this sorted.

Thanks for your help everyone! It's very much appreciated.
