Not much to report today (CJ is around), but the gate is open again

Might be a few star fragments around if anyone needs them.

Now, I know I’ve never said anything inappropriate in AC. I’ve never sworn, nor said anything ‘sexual’. I can’t work out if this has been triggered automatically or reported by somebody, but either way it’s left me feeling really upset and jaded, at a time when it’s been my one reliable escape.

I'm so sorry you got this Mimi
although the date seems wrong for it I wonder if it was a dreamer, do you have a dream uploaded?
Katie wanted to dream so I gave her the DA of a maze island, it was hilarious and after about 20 mins she couldnt get to the end and she couldnt get back to the plaza and she wanted to stop
so I said "ok just use - to end your AC session"
No. Minus has REPORT as the main option and she was fumbling around and I was going no no no dont press report
so then we were a bit lost as to how to get out of it until we finally figured out to call rescue on the nook phone
I don't remember the exact options for the reporting but it's the first thing I thought of

unless it was Darwin trying out rude words for fun?

No, the only log is the in-game one.

Darwin doesn’t know any rude words, and even if he’d typed one accidentally he doesn’t have an online account, so I’m pretty sure it’s not that. Plus he only plays at about midday, never that late in the day.

As you say, the date is wrong for the ‘dream’ to have been the issue (even accidentally reported, as there’s nothing in my Island to cause offence), so I honestly don’t know. I just feel really... something. Part upset, part worried, part stressed. All the things I do NOT want to feel playing AC.

The tone of the message doesn't help, plus the lack of an appeal process and transparency as to what was actually said :(

Flump is open, but not much to report again - Flick is around and turnips have tumbled to 58.

I don't play AC, but are you 100% sure that email is from Nintendo? Could it possibly be some sort of scam?

I don't remember the exact options for the reporting but it's the first thing I thought of

Similarly to this, I nearly reported someone yesterday when sorting through my in game post to throw letters away. I don't know whether the position of 'Report' has changed, but I accidentally clicked Report instead of Throw Away. However, it prompted me to give details about it - the nature of the issue etc, so I don't think it's something you could do accidentally.

That said, I saw one of my AC friends on twitter saying recently that people were maliciously reporting others to troll them, so it might be that? Although I think that might have been specific to dream worlds.

Hard to say though - because of the dates involved :S I would have thought that would have to be a friend on your island :(

I've done this too, although I think mainly because when getting a letter from an islander, you just push up once and select 'throw away', but when it's from a real person, the report option appears in between. Not sure if that's always been the case though.

The email address in the expanded headers is from Nintendo.com. It’s a no-reply email address, and there’s no link to scam you out of anything. I can’t see what sort of scam it would achieve :(

yeah the problem is they mention ingame chat, so it would have to be someone you played together with
I'd love to say it's a scam but in googleing this I have found other emails very similar for different games from Nintendo
and I also saw for reporting chats it asks for details, so you'd think its either someone (maybe a child) yes-yes-yessing through dialog without reading, or it's not an accident
I really think the most unhelpful thing is the lack of detail about what was reported and the fact the email is 4 weeks later, so how are you supposed to figure out what happened?

I did wonder if it was a bot, but for the very little amount I chat in-game I can’t for the life of me think what it could have mistaken.

Plus, the email is so blunt. This is our final decision. No way to find out what it was, contest this, and a threat of being banned.

I think my own feelings is that it’s likely been someone on my island (or me on someone else’s) reporting me, whether accidentally or maliciously, but maybe an automatic trigger (and then why wait a month to tell me?)

Whichever it is, it seems to reckon in specifics of ‘vulgar/sexual’ language, which, honestly, has really upset me, and if I KNOW I’ve never done that and have no way to appeal, then I have no way to prevent it happening again and being banned. I think I’ll take down my ‘dream’ (though I don’t think that’s involved as the report is from before that feature was launched) and thin my friends list a bit to the few people I have up as best friends and who I’m pretty sure of the natures of, because I really don’t want anything to happen to my little island. It was supposed to be a little escape from all of the nastiness.

Potentially (I hadn’t thought of that) but I probably will not want to put myself through the stress of that. I think I’d rather spend my energies bolstering and protecting what I have because I fear the more o push into it the less joy I’d find in what has been, in many occasions, the one bit of mental relief I’ve been able to find.

Can I be cheeky and ask if anyone has a moment any time they see me online if they’d pop by and help water my flowers. Not all of them (gosh, no) but the flower bed that is partly in D-5/6, just here:

https://twitter.com/AC_mimipics/status/ ... 4709882882

There are a couple of watering cans outside, in case you aren’t armed. I’ve been trying to breed done purple hyacinths and blue roses. I’ve managed one purple hyacinth, but I’m struggling g to get any flowers at all to grow at the moment :(

I have actually joined a discord server because of this game, mikis first Discord yes yes
and it's mainly a watering group so anyone can call hydro-homies and people scramble to come water their flowers
they are a no-fee utterly lovely bunch

I understand this is not the moment for you to trust strangers, but there is so much support there as well as so much AC
they were joking the tag line should be "blue roses and emotional support"

so you can always call to water :luv: if you do it in PM I get an email which I will notice sooner

Happy to pop by and water as required if you're open at any point today Mimi :)

If you've not already done so, water as any additional residents you have on your island (Darwin, Russell?) as that seems to help.

Thanks, Miki (and possibly DM, who I think I spotted leaving at some point) for any watering as I have a purple hyacinth this morning :)

I annoyingly scuppered my blue rose efforts the other day as my special pinks + seed yellow combos sprouted two reds that I was going to put in a separate area, but when I looked later they weren’t in my pickets, so I think I accidentally sold them.

Thanks, Jem. I’ll ask the boys to help, too. I didn’t think it worked using other residents on your island, but worth a go. My gate is open and I’ll leave it open at various points in ten day when we aren’t watching a film, or doing whatever.

@Miki, in this group are you all (Nintendo) friendS with each other, or is it done via DODO code?

Yeah, I popped over for a bit after work. :) A friend of me crafted me the gold watering can as I won't be able to get that recipe till I clear all the stuff off the floor. :D

Almost everything is done by Dodo code, although there are plenty of people who have become switch friends for easy exchange of gifts etc
for watering it's always on dodo code and there is no obligation to participate
anyone feels like joining https://discord.gg/SxRfZM

they are a uk/eu based group, mostly uk I would say, some americans
it's a spin-off from the large discord that used to be connected to the gardening subreddit, but that group was mostly us and their hours are so hopelessly different that they made this group

I could be wrong! But I definitely got more flowers when also watering as Jemtwo (my creatively named second character :DD ) on my island :)

Thanks for the pictures miki :luv: you are single-handedly populating my gallery as I so rarely get Redd :D

youre welcome! And good to hear you're enjoying playing!
mimi has joined the discord, I hope you like it @mimi! and I hope you have some good hybrids tomorrow!

I've also been working on my island, I have changed the level most villagers live on and I've made my orchard smaller and Im doing a stupid amount of reshuffling flowers which is probably pointless, but I feel the need so
private life is hard at the moment, very much up and down - so using AC to find my balance when I get the chance

I don’t think it’s pointless if you work towards achieving even a little detail into the island That makes you hsppy, *especially* if it helps give you a bit of mental space from what can be a difficult reality.

The discord channel seems very pleasant. I don’t quite understand how discord, as a platform, works yet but the group seem pleasant.

I think Discord is just a platform for making Forums without having to do a load of work to make them
so you get a ready made forum where admin makes the topics (channels) instead of users making the topics
I am in another discord that has a million specific topics, which is quite overwhelming
this one has a fairly small set of topics/channels which is better I think, but it does mean several conversations are going on at once and you come back to 255 unread messages :D
General is where most of the ac chatting happens
non-ac is where all of the other chat happens
the forum is where all the asking for things like items, materials, diys or people offering things they have seen in peoples wishlists
oh and player-info has lots of bots that tell you stuff about villagers, or about players islands, or show you a picture of a cat, or even give you a dad joke ?!

Spent most of this weekend remodeling chunks of my island. Am fairly happy with where it's at, so just need to finish my 'clubhouse'. :D

Edit: has anyone seen a change in frequency in islanders doing DIY? I've been playing virtually all day and not seen a single person crafting today :S

Flump Redd guide: you have genuine Rosetta Stone (informative statue) and Ophelia (sinking painting) there.
