So - the "Supersizers go..." series has just finished.

I may be in a minority here, but I thought it was great. I'm not a massive fan of Ms Perkins, but she was fairly amusing in patches, and bounced banter very well with Mr Coren, of whom I am, in fact, a massive fan. He's brilliant. They're both intelligent and engaging to watch, and it was an excellent take on the food programme genre of whatsits.

So hoorah all round. It's one of the few things either of us have bothered watching recently (at least until Top Gear came back).

Oddly, Mrs Chris was convinced the two of them were shacked up by the end of it.

Also - it is now obligatory to end any answers to questions like "what's for dinner?" with "Claret".

Having met Giles Corun and having had the unpleasant pleasure of his company for several hours, I think he's an arrogant twatface.

Ah, the old immovable object and irresistable force meeting up, eh? ;)

He seems rather self-effacing on the tellybox, mind. So it's disappointing to hear he's a cock in real life.

Oh yes, he's very changeable. He puts on a terribly good show for the camera, but it is a show and imho, not representative of the man. Who is a twat. He told me he uses the internet only to check his Sales Rating for his books on Amaozn, and porn. Admirable!

Oh. Oh well. My dream of having a nice night down the pub with him has been shattered.

Fairly excellently honest, though!

Mmmm. Sales ratings.

Oh, um, I mean "mmm, porn". Of course.

I'm not usually too judgemental, but minutes after meeting him he started going on about how he'd been offered adverts from Bernard Matthews but refused to do them on ethical grounds, or something. It just seemed to be a very tiring 'Look at me I'm famous and impressive' thing, which persisted throughout the day. Sorry Chris, hold onto those dreams ;)

I saw adverts for this in passing and it looked interesting. I'll keep an eye out for repeats.

That would be odd considering Perkins is more interested in women folk.
Which is a shame - she is quite lovely. :(

Though she has travelled a fine line thats comes very close to selling out. Still she was excellent as the host of the 99p Challange back on the radio in years gone by.

Was Bill Bailey a nice bloke, though?

Please say yes.

It was quite good but a touch samey by the end.

I'm looking forward to the follow-up series where they stick Justin Lee-Collins into a time machine and send him back to the Jurassic era for a laugh.

Hold on, are we talking about Sue Perkins?

The same Sue Perkins of Mel and Sue whose career is widely assumed to have been the subject of a Trading Places style bet?

Ooh! Nooo! I cannot stand her - she just seems far too affected in all she does - any witticisms are marked by her 'knowing' voice, and any normal... well, does she ever just have a normal conversation? Entirely possible that I've formed an atavistic dislike of her and that colours my thinking but just the sound of her voice is enough to make me switch off.

I really like Sue Perkins but it was disappointing to find out she's gay and thus I never have a chance with her.

Not that I ever would have done but it kind of ruins the fantasy. Unless she's bisexual.

I've only seen one supersizers but I really liked it.

Give her a good listen on the News Quiz. The word "flailing" seems appropriate.

Always consider the source ;) I saw the one on Elizabethan food- (everything with extra herring!) and thought it was great. I kind of wish I'd made a note to record all the others now.

I always thought she was quite good on that. No Jeremy Hardy, of course, but who is? Other than Jeremy Hardy.

Fred McCauly can fuck off, mind.

And: hang on, Sue Perkins is a lesbytarian? No, never.

Why on earth would I need one? If anyone ever turns a bloke down it's "cos she's a lesbian" anyway.

Everyone needs a gaydar. It's an essential tool of the 21st century. Here's mine:

As you can see, there are no gays in the area. But if there were the man who sold it to me said YMCA would appear on the screen or anything with Kate O'Mara in it. 500 quid well spent I'm sure you'll agree.

Gaydars are why homosexuals aren't allowed in the military. The Russians developed a field gaydar in 1947, which would instantly betray the position of any British units that had gay members.

I quite liked this Supersizers thingy -while Coren may be a bit of a dick in real life, I think he worked quite well here, and Mrs Squirt fancies the pants off him in his Regency garb, so much so that I'm considering growing sideburns and wearing a frilly shirt and a top hat. The premise of the show itself was a good one too I think - history through everyday life. Although it would have been interesting to see what "normal" people ate, rather than the wealthy few percent that they represented. Turnips, leeks and scraps of beef dripping would have made a fairly dull show, I imagine.

And by sheer coincidence, this is what CG will be eating for the coming weeks. Along with Noodles and dog.

It's a good show, and Coren is amusing... but it's a bit repetitive.

Yeah, I think it's pretty much reached its limit now. You can only get so much mileage out of "Crazy food! Cravats! Too much booze!"

You mean there are people around who don't do this already?

True - it was very weighted towards the wealthy, even the 70s one. But then, as you say, boiled cabbage for 6 episodes probably wouldn't have enthralled the viewer.

Oh - the WW2 one was done from the working class perspective, mind.

I am going to make it my life's work to disprove this.

Yes luv, she's a lezza, but given that she's also a veggie type, I imagine that you could convert her... what with being 'team' on cinemageddon.

Plus, she was always happy to snog the face off 'anyone' during the series.

Keep the dream alive maaaan!
