When I was a youngster, my dad told me that cunt was the 'strongest' swear word (I think that's what he said, although maybe it was 'worst') and I just accepted it without really thinking about it or questioning it.

Then, later on, as a young adult it became to be used as a term of humourous endearment in certain contexts.

Language is constantly evolving.

When I was younger an older brother of a friend first used the word cunt in earshot of me and, lacking any context at all, I had no idea it was an even slightly bad word. I got my first clue to it's power from the expression on my mum's face when, while standing in a busy swimming pool in Majorca later that year, I pointed at my sister and loudly announced to everyone, "Arlene's a cunt!"

It's not really a word I ever use unless I'm quoting someone else and even then I feel a little uncomfortable about it. However, out of curiosity, I have just gone looking to see if BSL has a sign for it..

I get the message. I apologise again for bringing up the subject, an act which I now regret.

Don't get me wrong, I like pub arguments!

Sorry, I was having a lousy day yesterday and my brain decided to take everything personally.

(Also, I am a massive cunt.)

Rather than cunt, women often find Gaping Axe Wound less offensive

Fucksake, I had sandwich in my mouth.

In my head there are two words spelled the same - one that I really dislike that refers to women and/or their bits, and the one I use and love.

English fully supports this, it's basically part of the design requirements!
