Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 3rd party iPad case that allows the iPencil (is it even called that?) to charge whilst attached to the iPad? I was given a 3rd party one and though the pencil attaches it does not charge (Though there is a hole in the case material, I assume it is too thick to allow contact).

I don’t take the iPad out and about, so it doesn’t have to be heavy duty, just to fend off dust and surface scratches. If it were under £30 that’d be good.

I had to do research for this very use case (arf). Let me have a look to see what we went with.

-edit- is this the Pro or non-Pro? 10”, 10.5” or 13”?

But how will we know what it looks like and what you've bought?!

Sorry Boss. Was foolish of me. Have amended my ways. Was difficult to get a picture due to the ‘origami’ nature of the product. So many options, so many angles. I hope I captured its essence properly.

It’s just handy I had to find the exact same one previously I guess. Glad it’s ok!

Does that hold the pencil as well?

I bought this thing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DPMC87L but there is literally no way to attach it to my case (Apple one, with the keyboard - old version with awkwardly bumpy front when it's closed) that doesn't cause problems when you open the case. This should probably go in the first world problems thread.

The pencil attaches to the iPad itself, but there’s no seperate compartment/protection for the pencil, no. I don’t think what I’ve got would be any good for travelling, unless you were to pop the whole thing in a padded zipper pouch, but for an at-home dust-cover it’s great. The only slight negative is that when the cover is open the ‘hinge’ is just the case fabric, therefore not very rigid, and the case front does no naturally align with the iPad back, so the hold isn’t as natural. My past cases have all had a far sturdier hinge material so it folds back in good alignment.

Ah, I think your iPad must be newer than mine, as my pencil doesn't attach at all. (Apart from into the lightning port, for charging, when it becomes a big iPad lolly.)

Have to admit, I use the pencil a lot less than I thought I would, but I'm not sure if that's partly because I can never remember where it is. (Also, please can Mr/Ms Adobe give us an iPad version of Illustrator? Thanks.)

Ah. I think that is different, then. My iPencil magnetises to the side of the ipad and that's how it charges.

I’ve also got the V1 pencil. The V2 design is far more elegant.
