Cool. Looks like just Sat dropping out so far. Sal is going to get some trial lenses!

Has she ever worn them before? There can be a bit of a learning curve so, if not, I'd advise her trying them out and wearing them for a while at some point before the day itself.

:this:

Last time I tried contact lenses, it took me 10 minutes to get one lens into one of my eyes, another 15 minutes to get the other one in (still in the shop) and then I couldn't get them back out after getting increasingly frustrated over the course of a further half hour, and had to sheepishly ask the woman at the shop to pinch them out, which she did within 30 seconds.

They're not for me.

That’s very similar to my experience.

Post subject:  Re: ZLVR - Nottingham, Sat 9th March 2019

That's also exactly my experience, but the feeling of having 'proper' vision and not having to wear glasses was so amazing that I persevered and it wasn't long before I could get them both in within minutes; and taking them out couldn't be more trivial. There's no doubt there's a learning curve with them, but it always felt worthwhile to me.

I think I look better with glasses and I haven’t found a compelling use case for contacts, so I didn’t bother trying again.

This story sounds eerily like our sex life.

For contacts or sex with Gaz?

I need an answer by Monday as I’m booking it then. I think we’re down to 10 at the moment which is an annoying number :D

Kinda a long story. One thing is that China is buying all of Cambodia.

Another is that my income from SavyGamer has been completely fucked since the Brexit referendum result, and I kinda need to get a proper job now.

After a 30 minute sesh on Elite Dangerous VR made me feel all sorts of queasy last night for the first time ever, I'm starting to think this might not be such a good idea.

I'm hoping that it was just the laggy graphics caused by my aging CPU that was the main problem :/

I'll still give it a go, worst comes to the worst I can rip my headset off dramatically and demand to be escorted from the game zone, Crystal Maze style.

Double yellows on the road, room for two cars on the drive so first come, first served. There are side streets with plenty of room on though.

Zed El Vee Arr approacheth.

For those coming to our house either as residential guests or visitors, you have two options: either come on Friday afternoon from 3pm or Saturday from 2pm. I’m working Sat AM so no point turning up then, even if it is unlikely.

The event is 7pm and lasts 45 mins so I’m thinking a meal after for around 8:30pm. If we go for food before it’s going to be too early I’m thinking. Any preferences or food to avoid?

Any questions or alternative suggestions let me know.

My flight gets in about half twelve on the Friday so I'll probably go and catch the Captain Marvel film then catch up with you. I've no real preferences for food.

Our next TKD grading is rapidly approaching so we can't really afford to skip any lessons, so we'll be joining you guys early Saturday afternoon :) I have no preference food-wise, something I didn't think I'd ever type out just 10 years ago.

Post subject:  Re: ZLVR - Nottingham, Sat 9th March 2019

Weirdly, it was when we went to Genghis Khan's in Manchester.

I was still a food-fuss then, and the thought of eating Mongolian food terrified me. But then I realised during that meal that Mongolian food (and probably by extension, other food) is just the same as our food - it's still the same meat, same vegetables etc. but just prepared differently and with different sauces.

So I decided to always try stuff. If I didn't like it, fair enough, but at least I'd given it a go - and I also told myself to try things again fairly regularly in case my tastes change, and that's how I can now tolerate some cheeses rather than outright hating everything with cheese in the name ;)

There's only one exception to this rule - mushrooms. Can't stand the texture of 'em, never have been able to. The smell of them cooking and in my food makes me gag. Jem occasionally chops up mushrooms really small in some meals, and I can deal with that as it avoids both problems - but eating them normally can fuck right off.

So yeah. My food fussiness almost certainly stemmed from growing up in a household that only ever ate British staples - roasts etc. - because my Dad was (and is) a tremendously fussy git food-wise, and my Mum wasn't much better.
