Send an email to a client as a test.

Pretend I’m a client

Has anyone else been watching the women's World Cup? I've been watching the England games and I've really enjoyed them! This is coming from someone who can't stand football normally.

Today, I learned that in 2009, Canadian lawmakers brought into force the Apology Act, which enshrined in law that apologising for something is not an admission of guilt and cannot be treated as such - presumably because Canadians apologise reflexively for everything and it was causing too many hassles.

We have a similar law. See s2 of the Compensation Act 2006

Quote:
An apology, an offer of treatment or other redress, shall not of itself amount to an admission of negligence or breach of statutory duty

If I remember correctly, I think it was an amendment pushed by a backbench peer.

Yeah, saw some of the match last night when I was at the gym. Far more exciting to watch than the mens! I'm not fussed about football either.

Women's game seems less stop-start to me. Fewer fouls, I think, and so less interruptions to the game. I've been enjoying it a lot, and it seems like we might actually have a decent stab at getting to the final now!

France are the Hosts and the USA is probably the best team in the World, I think whomever wins that game is going to be really tough to play against. The English team has played really well at times, but has also been prone to mistakes both defensively and in attack. So, I think it's pretty similar to the men's side (and indeed the men's cricket and rugby teams too) in that they really could beat anyone, but also they could just throw it away, blow it away.

You stole my whole post.

Actually, it’s not that I can’t stand football, it just doesn’t usually interest me. The only exception has been the World Cup, because you sometimes see unknown or un-fancied teams scare the crap out of the front runners (didn’t Cameroon men play in bare feet aeons ago?).

I’ve really enjoyed the women’s competition this time. I’ve found it very entertaining, generally more sporting and less cynical than the men’s game, with a very good natured audience. I can understand why Cameroon were unhappy in their game. I think the referee didn’t control it well enough, and the VAR based decisions took a bit too long and they were arguably unlucky with some of the decisions that went against them.

Yes, the English ladies do tend to give the ball away too easily, but they’re not the only ones, and last night's game showed they have luck and brilliance in equal measure, and but for excellent defending when it mattered, the outcome could have been very different. The third goal was as good as I’ve ever seen.

Err you do know they are *all* rigged ?

The manuals for them are online in various places and they are set so that basically 1 in every x number of attempts will allow a stronger grip and will typically win
Its like the stacker ones where you stop a light on tower to win - they again have settings for how much profit they want to make / how much a play costs and how much the item is worth - it will then 'cheat' (jump to the next space) when its not got enough money in - and will not cheat when it has got enough money in to pay out.

There is nothing to say they don't set it that its a £1 go and it needs £500 to get a strong enough grip to pull one out

Old article but covers the basics

I am unexpectedly 90% likely going to be in London on Sunday evening with nothing to do. Anyone around for a beverage?

Except bad business... You want people to win because it drives business. Everyone knows that isn't fair, but they assume it's so you can't win at all. If they see someone win one or carrying a Winnie the Pooh or something they'll have a go.

When I looked after a bunch of them, we'd look at 19-20% cost of sales. So a prize costing £1 we'd want £5 Ish per one won.
