Today was initially kind of sucky because the person that was supposed to come and view my flat at lunchtime never turned up. However I've just 'won' four (!) packets of crisps out of the vending machine for the price of one because they kept getting stuck behind one another. So, y'know, swings and roundabouts.

I got about a teacup full up my sleeve when opening the kitchen window. Enough fun for one year.

The worst of it is that he really enjoyed watching The Snowman over Christmas, so if he does get the snow and a chance to build one he’s going to fully expect him to come in for TV and dress up in all my clothes.

DON'T DO IT.

No one wants a frothingly furious snow man for a companion.

I drove 231 miles around sites in Lancashire and Cheshire yesterday, sometimes in heavy snowfall, sometimes in pockets of sunshine with no sign of snow having fallen. Quite a lot sticking on the hills, but luckily not on the roads. This morning its just been foggy and a bit frosty.

In what is possibly the best article in the Guardian this week, about a family at war over who should be considered the proper theoretical claimant to the French crown, is also the best sentence I've read all week:

The current Napoléon, who works as a banker in London, is unlike his warmongering ancestor and tries to keep out of the fray

I am currently having a bath as I still struggle to walk well and why would anyone buy a 700mm bath but with a wide shower bit the end?

Ludicrous. I am trying to take a photo but camera lens keeps fogging.

And mrsA put "Himalayan bath salts" in because that will help and it is like sitting on gravel.

Interesting article about the implosion of Starbreeze. It's a long, but worthwhile, read https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-01-28-the-fall-of-swedish-game-wonder-starbreeze. For tl;dr, one just needs to jump below the line to where one commenter summarises the debacle neatly, if grammatically poorly:

"the hubris is outstanding, at what point did the board say or not say, we as a small game studio with 1 medium hit do we need to produce our own VR unit and create an engine from scratch. All they had to do was make Payday 3 with tighter controls and built for the current gen. It appears Bo Andersson ambition was far greater than his abilities."

My neighbours are having an extension built to the side of their house. I'm not complaining at all as it's for a downstairs bedroom and wet room for their disabled son and they're lovely people so I have absolutely no problems with it in the slightest.

But man... is it loud! They're demolishing some part of the wall today and it's absolutely deafening in here! Also, because of the vibrations, an ornament has fallen off the window ledge in my downstairs toilet and cracked the lid. They said they'd replace it no problem but it is slightly annoying.

Politely ebayed a seller about something I'd bought but hadn't been posted/received yet and got this response -

Quote:
Hi,

Sorry my son ended up in hospital and we could lose him this week.

It has been dropped with ups today and I’ll add the tracking reference now.

Hope they get to you ok.

Thanks for the guilt trip :(
