Open the Word file with 7Zip / Winrar and get the image file out.

Or have they taken the high quality original, printed it out, taken a photo of it with their phone, uploaded it to imgur, downloaded it on their PC and taken a screenshot and pasted *that* into the word doc?

The correct pronunciation is gif

I'm relatively sure that just right-clicking and choosing "Save as image" does the same thing.

Ah yeah, maybe. I've got "Save as picture", but it gave me the full-size image.

It does indeed... but that's no help as you were right in the first instance, it's a low quality blur fest of an image.

We used to have this issue constantly in my last job. We composed and printed letters on behalf of all local education authorities so every time one of them changed their logo or signatory for any reason we'd need new images to use. Every single fucking time our contact would be some clueless fuckwit who barely knew a JPEG from a hole in the ground and they'd endlessly claim that the approximately 14 pixels of horseshit they'd provided was the highest quality image available in the entire organisation. Obviously we could just blindly use that--and I lobbied hard for us to pick one of them as an example to the others and actually do it--but instead we'd have to go back and forth with these morons explaining to them why we didn't actually want both them and us to look like morons to every student in their region. Eventually, magically, someone would 'find' the proper high res artwork we needed and it would be sorted...before the next idiot inevitably popped up in the mailbox waving a deep-fried fucking GIF file at us. I do not miss that shit one bit.

Yep, this is a problem I have constantly. The annoying thing is that there's a section on their website under 'collateral' that reads:

Quote:
Below is a link to a password protected download of the identity collateral. It includes the logotype and badge in various formats for different uses. Also included in the download is a guide document to help implement the identity correctly. Download this artwork onto your system, do not give a supplier your password.

but do you think anyone know's the password to get access to it? Of course not. Why would they?

Me, last night:

  • Boot up PC.
  • Flick the output from the monitor over to the TV.
  • Open an episode of B99.
  • Pause it right at the beginning so it's just showing a completely black frame.
  • Full screen it.
  • Go to the kitchen to do some stuff.
  • Come back into living room.
  • Notice completely black TV screen.
  • Panic slightly.
  • Spend ten minutes switching things on/off and fucking with various cable connections to no avail.
  • Eventually Google for the Windows 10 keyboard shortcut that lets you change the output between available displays.
  • Hit that key combination, the relevant overlay appears on the TV on top of the 'black screen'.
  • Realise what's going on.
  • Unpause video player and try to pretend that last quarter of an hour didn't happen.

I am not a smart man.

I’ve definitely never been working on a hacky code prototype and really happy that all my tests passed first time before realising I’d run the tests in a different branch. Ah huh.

I didn't recently drive from Manchester to Barrow in Furness to fix a customer's faulty till scales, swap out the scale, swap out the scale display and THEN check that there was power coming out of the mains socket. Oh no, not me.

To be fair, a failed bank of four sockets is pretty rare, but I should know to check the fundamentals first. And the helpdesk vetting the call should have asked them if there was power to the scale before sending an engineer to replace a perfectly good one.

I like the central idea of the ad, as a snippet of insight into a huge problem, but as soon as you are trying to profit off of any huge societal problem by sliding your ‘please buy our stuff’ alongside the message, it all gets a bit messy.

Much as I’d hope that people took something strong away from it, there’s always going to be a backlash to people promoting a ‘Male’* product with a feminist message.

*’Male’, because despite the ads, women use them too, because women’s razors are 4x the price, because they are pink.
