I want to mute a chat. It’s a group full of wittering boneheads but I feel obliged to stay part of it. I want to mute it.

So, obviously, I selected ‘mute’.

But it still sends me notifications and shows the chat updating on my convo screen.

I just want to forget they exist for a week or two without them knowing, but still have access to all my other chats.

Oh, no, I’ve done that (it’s worded slightly differently in my phone).

I don’t have pop up messages, just badges, and it still shows them.

EDIT:,so it shows the badge with X number of messages, so then I have to open the app to see if it’s from the chat I want to read or the one that I don’t.

ProTip: buy a burner phone for the school WhatsApp group as (n=6 in various schools) it is a fucking bin fire.
