Someone has told him that's how all the cool kids speak on the internet.

If you haven't posted in newsgroups and had a top posting vs bottom posting war then you shouldn't be allowed outside of facebook.

EDIT: Obviously that's a sweeping generalisation.

You prolly won't be surprised to learn that it's difficult to order stuff over the net to be delivered to addresses in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. The porn filters go batshit when I've tried in the past and won't allow me to carry on to the next screen, so I just have to leave it as Chorlton.

Sorry, that has f-all to do with Twitter, but ... whatever.

Does anyone else follow XboxSupport?

I tweeted about my Xbox breaking and they instantly asked if they could help, directed me to the service page on Xbox.com and were genuinely quite nice about it all.

They also helped with my DRM issues and sorting out my download queue online (It was still linked to the old console you see)

All in all, very good service.

Now.. if only I could find someone to fix my washing machine. :S

Washing machines are apparently easy to fix, as it's only ever the control board, the pump or the motor.

Mine turns on but then just sits there buzzing... not spinning or anything.

Could it be the control board? I think so as it doesn't even get as far as the pump water bit... or maybe that's what it's trying to do? Either way, I'll have a look on the weekend.

Nope, not filling at all. All that happens is that when you press start, it starts buzzing.

Yes, the door does lock.

This is cheaper than the Hotpoint phone support, I'll give you that! (Probably more effective too)

Is there any chance the water supply pipe to it is frozen? Or the valve turned off?

I would switch it off, take the pipe off, and see if water comes out when you crack the valve a bit.

There is a chance that the pipe is frozen, but it's been a bit warmer today so I'm not convinced. I'll try it though.

Oh.. and Doc, that fills me with loads of confidence. Ironically, when we first had the washing machine the belt fell off it on the first spin cycle and we had to get it fixed.

That happened to ours, although I'm not sure what make it is. We just popped the cover off the back and replaced the band - it was pretty easy. Although that doesn't help you now.

Well, I've just taken the pipe off and it looks like there was a small block of ice in it towards the machine. I'm warming up the garage now to see if I can defrost it.. hopefully I can!

Thanks for everyone's advice! I will let you know what happens.

When I first moved into a cottage a good few years ago, I plumbed in the washing machine and fired it up.
Unfortunately the drain pipe was blocked up, and, even more unfortunately, it managed to finally get up to max revs in the spin cycle.
Then it pulled itself to bits :(

So check yours, too.

Thank you Kalmar! Your frozen pipe advice was spot on... that was much better than the Xbox support.

Anyway, we can go back to talking about Twitter now.
