I really hope valve one day invest large sums of money into a WINE like solution for playing your entire Steam library, on Linux, including games with no native Linux version.

Last time I used WINE, it was functional but fiddly, and performance took a big hit.

Yeah, but they're someone else's problem. Just like sewer pipes or electricity lines - as long as they work, then most people probably don't really care to know any detail.
