Super Mario Party is excellent if you have the people and the Joycons for it.

I had a hard time choosing which platform to get it on, as it's on PS4, XBox and Switch, and coming to PC, so I had them all to choose from!

PC was immediately out of the running as the game isn't released until Q1 of 2019, and that'd be my last choice anyway as I wanted to play it on the big telly whilst sat on the couch.

Price wise there was only a couple of quid between the three console platforms, so in the end I went with XBox because it's the console that gets the most use and of the three gamepads I think the XBox has the best pad. (I have a Pro Controller for the Switch and it's decent enough, but the XBox pad is nicer. I've never been a fan of the Dualshock and still don't really like it now.)

Also, the XB1X is the most powerful of the three and whilst it should make no difference whatsoever for a game like this I figured it'd make sense to get it on the most capable platform.

Oh yes and my XBox has optical sound so I get proper 5:1 sound out of it, which I don't think this game leverages but it was a 'just in case'.

Which one did you get again? I’ve been looking at 32” 4K monitors and they’re all around £500.

Phillips 40”. That’s as small as I’d want to go to run 4k at 100% scaling (YMMV.) It was a Black Friday deal.

Philips BDM4037UW/00 40 Inch Widescreen VA W-LED Multimedia Curved Monitor (Glossy White) - (3840 x 2160/4 ms/VGA/2x HDMI/DisplayPort/4K) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MSYXDC7/ ... kCbVN8MHXC

I like it. It’s a very mild curve, but it helps to deal with the otherwise extreme off-axis viewing (with associated colour shift) of the corners of this large a screen. Only downside is when I sit down before turning it on, my reflection is super-wide like a funhouse mirror.

Obvious downside to this Philips is pretty bad black-to-white time that causes ghosting during rapid transitions. It’s livable with, especially for the price I paid, but it’s definitely there.

Hmmm, yeah, I remember thinking 40” is bonkers big. I sit pretty close to my screen and feels like I’d be in the front row of the cinema for full-size apps (games).

As DocG says YMMV may vary, I'm fine with a 32inch 4K screen at 100% scaling, although it's about at the limit of comfortable use, and I have moved it a bit closer than my old 1440p 27 incher.

I've settled into the 'four 1080p quarters' setup, it's quite a revelation in terms of PC use.

Your mileage may vary may vary :D

Yeah, I was thinking the Acer Predator as has G Sync, but it’s a bit eye-watering at £675.
