No, but I don’t think anyone is bothered by people who didn’t like the film in general.

It’s more that there has been a ton of stuff saying people didn’t like the film because it’s a betrayal of the principles of Star Wars, and how it thematically is against everything before, and that it should be struck from the canon, just because it doesn’t fit with their idea of what fanfic they wanted to see.

In that sense, people will defend it, because obviously the film does fit well with the others. Now if people didn’t like the hyperspace bit or the casino bit or the set up for the ship running out of fuel and so on then fair enough.

But pretending that not expanding on the previous lore or altering a direction, or a Jedi going into hiding is a new thing is palpably daft. These are the kind of things that have happened in every single Star Wars film ever. So when the loudest shouts are all nonsense, I’d expect shouting in the other direction too.

The fact it was unfunny tedious shite.

That it was chock full of bangable wimmin was its one plus.*
Much better than the unfunny white middle aged ugly portly men of the originals.

New Ghostbusters wasn't the greatest film in the world but it was entertaining enough. Not the worst Ghostbusters film, obviously.

And nice for women and girls to have science nerd comedy role models for once.

Well, I’ve finally seen it. It’s too long. It’s not the first film where everything that happens from 30 or so mins in, to 30 or so from the end does little for the narrative arc of the actual film, but it was noticeable.

she liked it..and so did i... (expected to be disappointed)

meanwhile, the was a star wars exhibition here as well, so we went on the photo with BB7.. the exhibition was a bit overpriced, but we had a good father daughter day... the merchandise was crap though..

The reason you can't remember is because it was never explained.

Apparently because there are protected puffins all over the island and they weren't allowed to relocate them to film. So they basically just put porgs on top of them.

Well, according to stand-in reviewer on wittertainment (Robbie Collin IIRC) who is a former puppeteer and knows the guy who worked on the last Jedi, they're actually puppets and not CGI

It seems they used puppets for the shots where they were deliberately filming the porgs (like in the falcon's cockpit ) but CGI for where they were all over the island.

Hello to Jason Isaacs..

:?: :?:

Wittertainment is the vernacular for Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode's film review show which usually airs every Friday on Radio 5 Live. They've been doing it for donkey's ears so have a lot of in-jokes. Mark Kermode went to school with Jason Isaacs and they're still friends. He gets a shout out pretty much every show and calls in unexpectedly several times a year. The shout out has become a trope/meme and many correspondents to the show put it in their emails, people say it to him in the street and listeners of the show reportedly say it to each other on first meeting. It's got so prevalent that shout outs to Jason Isaacs have happened at the Baftas, The Golden Globes, on the tube by station announcers, on flights by the pilot. You get the idea.

Having not seen the film until tonight and only just reading this thread, you will not be surprised to know this is exactly what I shouted.

I fell asleep for a bit when Luke was banging on about Ben and woke up and Yoda had appeared

It was pretty good
