Hello. My electricity has gone but not the lights. I can just about reach the fuse box but I can’t see properly. What am I supposed to be doing?

Looks like you need to pull the switch down - the one that's just to the left of the yellow button on the right.

Depending on what made it go, it may just trip off again though :/

I'm no expert but to me, it looks like it's tripped and that grey switch, third from the right, needs pushing down.

Yeah, basically the one that's in the opposite position to all the others .

If you were using anything new or unusual at the time, unplug it first.

The box is actually sideways as well, which all adds to the confusion. I’m not quite as stupid as the initial post may make me seem, but between the box being sideways, the switches being weirdly labelled (I’m not sure if it’s the box labels or switches that are upside down (as well as sideways) but it’s also right near the ceiling, so even standing on the little baby step I can’t see and actually couldn’t tell from the picture that one of the switches was in the opposite direction to the other, and it’s too high up for me to see in real life because, well, it’s ridiculous.

This is to help combat the risks of heavy electricity.

Hope your power stays on and you're able to fix the root cause with a shiny new kettle, Mimi!

When scanning the index page I read this as "Please help (fuse box, electric gnome)". I was ready for something genuinely quite terrifying.

Flip this switch towards you if it flips back again maybe think about what you have plugged into the sockets today and remove them

If its still doing it after that you need an electrition

That's fine, iPhones stay on 1% battery for hours, except when they don't

And BTW, that’s not a fuse box, it’s an RCD Consumer Unit, but for the sake of your emergency, fuse box will do.

(I know, I know, nobody like a smart-arse.)

I still don’t have a kettle :(

The one we wanted was out of stock so we’ve ordered one and scan collect it today or tomorrow.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Boiling water for your tea in a microwave or pan on the stove just seems so wrong. My mother-in-law once said that she thought that boiling it in a pan was much hotter than in a kettle.
