That was good fun, and not too taxing.

I think DavPaz should explain his clues now :D I’m still stuck on one and I had the answers in front of me.

Dunkirk was a risk for me as it wasn’t really ‘England’ but the only single word war films that I could think of with British soldiers were that, Zulu (which being set so far away I thought made it more risky) and Dambusters, and I am 99% sure that it was a specifically Scottish squadron in that, which I thought would work against us.

Good work red team. And good work Davpaz, sorry we didn't quite make it over the finish line :)

I was stumped to honest and "Dunkirk" was an amazing clue to start with.

Calamari was a "rome" clue, believe it or not

No, Rome was your only remaining word.

It was link. I never actually got to give a clue for that one.

I did warn you.

See, I thought calamari = link because calamari rings COULD be like links of a chain, but honestly when I saw what was left of the other team’s words I decided to chance the last couple of rounds as strong single word rounds.

That was to cover paste from the previous round

Post subject:  Re: Codenames game 1 round 1 (Nov 2017 edition)

Now I'm proper confused - didn't your team get "paste" on Calamari?

It's proper risky actually adding in extra guesses on to the clues, as you risk people thinking that there are three words related to the clue rather than two + the extra guess. That's why you get an additional guess after successfully guessing the number in the clue, to catch stragglers :)

What can i say, i really like the challenge of linking words together with other words, even if i'm often dealt a shitty hand when it comes to words.

(as per the game I played on saturday night with Jem, her bro and his partner)

Sounds like fun.

New work directive to actually give a shit about work and not dick about on forums is making me less effective though.

Or arguably making my team more effective :D

Curio be captain then, perhaps, as I think there’s perhaps less posting needed as you just need to set the words.
