Oh, not at all, other stuff is a given. For some value of "stuff". Dunno how interested they'd be in, say, Atari 2600.

I'd make them play nothing else but Atari games for the first 12 months. It's the only way they'll appreciate games on as many levels as we do.

But,if you'd rather be nice... curated lists are all down to personal preference I find but I use this site to download ROMs from. It has a top 10 section for each of the major consoles so I think that could be a good place to start.

https://vimm.net/vault/?system=SNES

I've just checked another site that I used to use but all the Nintendo ROMS have gone off there now. Pah.

There are a few curated torrent sets around which you just dump onto an SD card and boot from - I'll see if i can find a link tonight (if i remember) - the general advantage for those is that everything is already setup (so controls and options) although they can still be a bit overwhelming just for shear numbers - at least you normally avoid the duplicates.

Looks like it can't pair with the controller. Has it worked before?

It did, then I added the code in to make it pair when booting. Then something happened elsewhere in the house so I turned it all off and walked away now I don't know which file I need to change. Or how to.

Run through the connection wizard again from scatch

Is there a nice "curated" version for those of us that don't gotta catch 'em all?

You can pick and choose on that website. Don't need to grab the lot

There’s no better curator for your own tastes than you :D

There are over 11,000 SNES games on the list! I can't go through them all :)

You could Google "best SNES games" or "best SNES RPGs". There are always people willing to share their opinions on the internet ;)

Most of those 11,000 are at least tripled up as well, having US, Japan and European versions. Many have revisions and betas too. So there's probably only about 2,000 :D

I'm at this very moment downloading the full MAME 0.78 ROM set which I'll then be de-duplicating, as I'm sick of my RetroPie having 6 copies of each game on it with no particular means of differentiating any of them.

On the subject of curated lists

https://twitter.com/SmokeMonsterTWI

Is mainly focused around the FPGA side of emulation but also produces curated lists for virtually every system

I'm currently wavering between building a 2 player bartop case with arcade sticks for a Retropie or just building it into a joystick to use with a TV. I reckon the joystick idea is more practical as it can be put away when I inevitably lose interest

So things have changed a bit over the last few years on this - if you don't want to build your own there are plenty of prebuilt ones the 'joystick into the tv' is very common at the moment - search for 'pandoras box' on either ebay or Amazon

Yeah, I've seen those... probably would save space too. I just like the idea of a stand up cabinet, all a while off yet anyway.

I considered all of these options and took some time deciding what I was going to do... I was then bought an Arcade 1up cabinet so it took all those decisions out of my hands.

I'm very pleased with it.

I still really want a cocktail table cabinet but we don't really have any room for one - at least not until we can reclaim the conservatory from our rabbits.

Also worth checking the official store on AliExpress as there are knock-off versions on eBay with flaky games/emulation.

As said in the other thread using my android tv now instead of retropie.. have most arcade stuff in it (retroarch 0.78) and actually finished a swos career season on it this week...

using a combi of my 8 bit do controller (which i bought for my switch and macbook), and my xbox hori stick.. .. remains a great arcade controller..
