Oh yeah I think that too. I think that most of them have no idea who is even fooling who. But then you see the number of people who believe that vaccinating children is an evil conspiracy, and they definitely do believe it, and it gives pause for thought.

But with pretty much all conspiracy theories, there's some underlying reason why "they" are doing it.
What is there for people promoting the round earth myth?

Before I'd heard of people actually believing it in this day and age I'm sure I'd encountered it as a sort of thought experiment. A way for teachers to challenge students. I think it just got taken to the extreme.

Given I just spent 165 minutes assembling some flat pack furniture from Aldi, my "Let's build a boat" scheme has hit a shoal.

I finally located the source of the funny smell in my kitchen to a bag of potatoes that had turned into a gloopy rancid potato soup at the back of the fridge. Managed to dispose of it into the veg bin, but it'll be another fortnight now before that gets taken away. Probably going to have to cover it with a load of grass cuttings and perfume to hide the horrid smell whenever I open it.

Moral: do these things the day before bin day. Or at least clean your fridge out once in a while

I always thought that potatoes shouldn't be kept in the fridge anyway. Not sure why exactly.

I've just done a quick search on this and apparently it's a very bad idea and I'm going to die horribly. Better move them to the cupboard.

In fact what is their explanation for boats sailing over the horizon etc?

Don't know about those specifically, but often people ask why you can see the curvature of the earth when looking through the window of an aeroplane, and they respond with "the window panes are curved to make the horizon look curved, they're all in on it."

I did this. Only I managed to get a fly infestation as well. Took me ages to find out where the fuckers were coming from.

Buy a packet of baking soda. Pour it onto the spud soup. That should kill the bacteria

I keep missing when bands I like release new albums. I use Songkick to tell me when bands are touring but I don't know of anything similar for album releases, does the hivemind know otherwise.

If you use Spotify, you can click 'follow' on an artist and you'll get an email through when new stuff is added to Spotify. It's not perfect though - I got a notification the other week that Extreme (what can I say, I like a little cheesy rock) had a new album out and it was only halfway through the first track when I realised it was a different Extreme and not a completely different direction for the band, not to mention a different language.

Yeah, myp just mentioned this separately to me. I don't use Spotify but I do have a free account which I could use if it provides this feature.

I had a similar experience when I searched for Brand X (the ‘legendary’ jazz fusion outfit that Phil Collins played with a a side project to Genesis) and was baffled by the Brand X Music selection offered by Spotify, which is ‘widely regarded as the premiere music library for motion picture and entertainment advertising.‘

I like that Napflix exists, but I clicked on the Tetris video and it just made me want to play Tetris rather than fall asleep.

Matthew McConaughey watching rain looks like a classic though.

Either a line graph or a scatter graph; depends on how you put the results in.

Thanks all. It's a four quadrant graph (at least that's what google tells me.)

And Z, it's not a nerd chart, it's a tool I'm developing to recruit my next hire.

My hermes are utter shit.

I ordered a parcel which needs to be signed for. The seller chose my hermes to deliver it.

I came home to a you were not in card for 2 days on the row. 3rd time it gets sent back to the seller.

I had to open a web chat as you can't speak to any one on the phone. I live 200m from a my hermes pick up point, but they can't deliver there as the sender has stated my address..
my final reply to the chap -
'to sum it up.. you won't give me the drivers details, nor contact him. you won't change the deliver to a secure 'my hermes' shop. and i i am not in today my parcel will get sent back?'

How is this even a business model..?

It says on their site that they’ll contact the courier for you and pass on a preferable delivery day/time or a different drop off point.

Web chat them back and get someone better.

It's the cheapest business model around is why. Plus the driver is probably someone different each day using their own car. They can't give out a phone number as it's their own personal mobile.

It's shit, but blame the company, not the driver. If you're not there and a neighbour won't take it what can they do?

Is it though? Looks to me that the +x axis is not the opposite of the -x axis, nor the y axis, which you'd typically expect to be the case for a 4 quadrant graph
But would be the case if you did want 4 separate axes and conveyed meaning by distance from origin covered in each axis.

Basically, your example also needs some example data on it.

Unless I've crossed over into bizarre world, and stamina actually is the opposite of agility.,and strength the opposite of speed.

It's shit, but blame the company, not the driver. If you're not there and a neighbour won't take it what can they do?

I don't see anywhere in that post that he's said anything even approaching negative about the driver? I realise this will hit close to home for you but you seem to be responding to stuff Kov hasn't said.

I wasn't saying he was. I was explaining why they won't give out the driver's details.

They could have contacted the driver, but chose not to.

They might have tried. I've had support tried calling me before but I've either been driving or delivering so ignored it.

Thanks all. It's a four quadrant graph (at least that's what google tells me.)

And Z, it's not a nerd chart, it's a tool I'm developing to recruit my next hire.

4 individual axes is a radar plot, isn't it?

Can I have a tea please?

Can't make tea.

Can't or won't?

If the former, I can train you.

If the latter, I can make you.
