Amazing!

"But Tony suggested a more sinister explanation.
“There’s more to this,” he said. “Morrisons have got their own agenda."

They are under the thrall of big pie, for sure.

The gazette is a very real and quite old local newspaper. I wouldn't be surprised if they're cherry picking pissed off local stories just to take the piss though.

If anyone can bear to watch the theme tune to this (on mute)... can you see any facial resemblance of the woman singing to Frank Skinner? Every time I comes on all I can see is Frank Skinner.

Cliff Richard privacy case: I acted fairly, says BBC reporter

I don't think spying through Cliff's windows from a drone or helicopter, while the fuzz were rummaging through his stuff, was professional reporting. Not quite as bad as their appalling coverage of Raoul Moat, but still OTT.

On the day when the police had him surrounded, the Beeb reporter (I think it was Jon Sopel) was on the street, cornering anyone who'd talk to him, engaging in pointless and repetitive questioning about what people thought about having a murderer cornered in a field, with a gun to his head. He was just filling the time with gibberish because he was stuck trying to do a live report when nothing was actually happening. He then interviewed a distraught lady whose mum was locked in her house, very close to where the siege was taking place, and then commandeered the woman's phone when she managed to get through to her mum and then asked HER a load of questions that she was incapable of answering, when she was also obviously very worried about her own safety. Cheap, nasty TV journalism that is not worthy of the Beeb. But I'm sure he'd been told to keep going as they MUST try to beat Sky's viewing figures.

I remember it at the time and Charlie Brooker covered it a Newswipe as well. (Or a Yearly Wipe, one of the two.)

The whole things was very distasteful and a classic example of how something that doesn't really matter very much can totally dominate the shitty 24/7 news agenda for days at a time.

I think someone that went on a rampage and ended up holed up in a field is pretty newsworthy, but I see the points regarding the Damien Day style of news reporting

It was (maybe remains to this day?) British police’s biggest ever manhunt. It was much hyped and over-sensationalised (they got the survival guy... not the Bear chap... the cuddly one who likes to carve spoons...) involved at some point. There’s no doubt the news stories and reporting style was ridiculous at points, but the scale of the operation that was put in place to track and apprehend this guy was newsworthy. Not of interest to me, or you by the sounds of it, but it would have been perhaps stranger if Britain’s biggest ever manhunt wasn’t a sizeable news story.

I’m surprised they didn’t get URI Gella planting crystals in the corners of the Moat field.

I think my hatchet is endorsed by Bear. Anyway, yeah, I agree. It was big news and a developing story and I think that if journalist didn't make those calls, hey would be asked why? There's a lot of dead (ho ho ) air to fill a lot of the time.

I bought a laser printer for £50 t'other day, as my inkjet printer had dried up ink...again...after printing about 2 pages a month or so ago... It was £25 for more ink, that would dry up again through low use. Didn't want to get on that merry go round again, so looked for other option.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Xpress ... B00YU62KR6

Cost me £50 from ebuyer, ink lasts for 1000 pages (against 200 for an inkjet), ink doesn't dry out, replacement ink costs £10, it's tiny, it's quiet, super easy to setup, wifi enabled, spits out a page every couple of seconds, it's bloody brilliant.
Only downside is that it is black and white only, but other than that I can heartily recommend it, should have bought one years ago.

I give it 9.2 troopoints

Laser printers don't actually use ink, they use toner, which is a dry powder to start with, so can't get any drier! :)
They use heat to melt the toner onto the paper I think, or magic, one of the two.
