That Street Fighter box is hideous. The random character placement in the art and the weird tag line blatantly written by someone who's only knowledge of the product was the picture on the front. Urgh.

Terrible isn't it? I think it was the same artwork that was used for the SNES too but without the tag line.

It was definitely the same artwork as the Amiga as I had it and it came with a free poster which I had on my wall.

I was thinking of Breakout, but that didn’t have a ball bouncing into the screen.

I really ought to get my Atari out of the loft to see if it still works. My kids would love to play Buggyboy again, I’m sure, even though they’re in their late thirties.

I'm in my late thirties and I'd love to play it again! In fact, I might just do that this evening.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys and gals, and more of the same extended to Curio!

I have birthday meal and movie tonight; coq au vin with a fine bordeaux. Mmm. Also hopefully True Stories, the David Byrne / John Goodman movie from the eighties if YouTube behaves.

Once again thanks for attending my Bristol Birthday Bash on Saturday, Kern! :luv:

Yesterday I was in a Coffee shop and at an adjacent table was a man of, I guess, 20-25 with two women of about 80. He was like every Internet/comic book store nerd ever written into a film from his looks. He was absolutely burning the ears off these two bemused and yet bored looking women with his case against evolution which, in his entirety, seemed to be:

“But you realise it doesn’t make any sense, right? They say we share a load of our DNA with bananas. But you don’t share any features with a banana. Look at a banana. How are you related to a banana? Can you be related to a... berry? Do you share DNA with a berry, too? It doesn’t make any sense. At no point can you say that we are like a banana. Do you think you look like a berry? I looked in the mirror today [this I doubt, I don’t think he’d washed his hair this year] and I’m pretty certain I didn’t look like a berry...” etc.

I tuned back out, but as he was leaving he was saying “and anyway, even if there was really another planet that would support life you tell me exactly how we’d get there...”

I didn’t hear either of the old ladies speak once. He seemed MIGHTY pleased with himself though, for being a genius and resisting being fed all that fake education.

You surprise me. It happens around here all the time. (I live 5 mins from Moss Side.)

The photo of the street sign really adds a bit of gravitas to the report. And the one with the caption saying it’s close to a school doesn’t show the picture of the school, just the house that’s in the next shot a couple of seconds earlier by the look of it.

I think the reporter/photographer just got carried away with the excitement of it all.

The school is two roads away, maybe a couple of minutes walk. It's really rare that anything like this happens around here, although there was the torture brothell raid a couple of years back, so I'm not that surprised the reporter went to town.

I got notified that XMarks is being scrapped in May. It seems odd that there don't seem to be many decent alternatives that offer simple browser bookmark syncing. Everything I've looked at so far seems to complicate the process or offer lots of features I have no need for.

It's not that odd; as all the browsers do it natively now there's no real call for third party solutions.

I should have probably added that it's the cross-browser support that I find useful.

Advertising bullshit: try to guess the product from this load of old cobblers.

Perspective changes the cityscape at one masterful stroke. Inspired by the purity of modern architecture, its parallel lines go on forever, as limitless as your ideas. Its crisp determination reflects your most focused creative moments. Powerful design creates a sense of presence whenever you use it. Get ready to reach for the sky.

I did actually guess that correctly, based on "as limitless as your ideas" and "sense of presence". If you had one, perhaps you could create similar waffle.

I have one of that make that I’ve had for over 20 years, just not that model, obv. I haven’t used it for years and it’s bladder has rotted through, so I was wondering if it could be repaired. There is a replacement converter, but before I shell out for it I wanted to be sure I could get the old one off. At the moment it’s stuck fast.

But that blurb I should still a load of tosh.

On the plus side Kern you haven’t wasted three grand on a holiday everyone is all hating. Bali looks nice from the photos but it’s actually really not that great. It’s over developed, dirty, busy, entirely based around separating tourists from their money and doesn’t contain many of he quintessential areas of tranquility you might expect. The hotel in Ubud which looked lovely is insect infested, including some fairly massive cockroaches. The pretty outside bathrooms are just magnets for vast numbers of biting things. (Luwak Villas in Ubud - their tripadvisor score will be going down a bit, despite how lovely their staff are).

The bike tour we booked was terrible, all on road on what turned out to be some fairly knackered old bikes, and it turned out sams brakes didn’t work very well. And it was all downhill ... and the last bit was through a busy bit of town traffic wise, and Balinese drivers make singaporean drivers look considerate and safe. So last night was the first night Sam has ever wet the bed due to a nightmare.

And to top it all off, it’s making Ruth and Sam less happy about being in Singapore too. Yay.

Lesson learned there. We are not by nature the sort of people who’d go on holiday in slightly more rustic South East Asian countries.

There have been a couple of good points (the Campuhan Ridge trail was a good couple of kilometres of walk this morning but you have to get past piles of refuse to get to it) but so far this has been the worst holiday we’ve been on ... :-/

Sorry to hear you're having a crap time. Having a holiday not be what you wanted is always a downer.

It may suck now, but in time you'll get some good stories out of it to dine out on.

That sounds a bit pants, Mr Chris. Maybe Taiwan, or Fiji (hot, though). Taiwan might tick all the boxes, not that I've been. Malaysia, too, for development and whatever you want; beaches etc. With a bit of luck one of those will make them feel they're well located.

Nicky Santoro, the staple king of Chicago? I knew he got off his 10 stretch after singing like a canary but I didn't think he'd have the freaking nerve to show his face on this side of the pond.
