Here is a story about people photocopying their parking permits and flogging them on EBay for those wanting to park near SW13.

And the authorities said this:

Quote:
"The areas in question are middle class areas, and there were lots of people trying to sell permits," he added.

So that's alright then.

Presumably the very same people who go on about benefit scroungers and the like.

Very rich people are cunts. Remember that story about all those £200K+ supercars registered as taxis to get around the congestion charge? Or threatening to leave the country rather than pay £30k as a non-domiciled resident?

I see em all the time. They all have "Private hire only" stickers in the back window. I don't think I've ever seen one in use (people carriers do it too). They're all single people or what are clearly families.

Heh... I'd always wondered what was going on with all those cars I see on the M25 on my way to work. Now I know.

Nearly all people, rich, poor, or middling, are cunts. Such is life.

It's time someone reported cars registered as taxis to the Tax Office, to make sure they're paying their taxes on their taxis, so to speak...

I also want a list of telephone numbers, so I can book them.

Ah, but Transport For London also have a hell of alot of private taxi's out there? I nearly always see one on the M25. They are classed as taxi's but act more like a minicab (i.e you phone them up and then they drive you around). Usually they are black or are in dark colours and have a driver in a suit. You can't just hire one from the street.

If they're not making any income, there's no tax to pay, surely?

But dare they admit that, and effectively confess to defrauding on the Conjestion Charge?

It will never happen, of course - catching them in this way would involve co-operation between government bodies, and that just doesn't happen.

That's the sad thing, there's no minimum amount of taxi based use, so they can just say "Oh I didn't get any jobs this year, aren't *I* shit".

Oh indeed, presumably plenty of the ones with the stickers are legit.

Thing is, how do you penalise someone for being shit at business, which is what they'll claim.

I think an entire year where they took no fares at all is substantial evidence of fraud, whatever they claim. And if they set up as a business, I believe they're obliged to submit a tax return, even if their income is zero.

You don't need to officially set up a business.

To backtrack, you're entirely right in every single point in this thread except for the fact the law is this case is a wide open ass.

The law is goatse.

I have no objection to them classing their cars as taxis because, well, the congestion charge can go fuck itself.

Of course, anyone driving in London is batshit crazy anyway.

Bikes are exempt, aren't they? Everyone should ride bikes in busy places.

Excellently, this includes my Range Rover :)

Oh, quite. You're definitely excused for that.

I can't see how anyone could bear to spend 8 hours a day commuting through London in a car though. Poor sods.

Surely LPG stations aren't nearly close enough for the amount that drinks :D

It does the same MPG (12-15 now I've changed the air filter and winch cable) but at half the price, so it's the equivalent (as far as I am concerned) of 30MPG now.

I meant that given I've seen about 2 stations doing it I'm surprised you can even drive from one to the next on a tank :)

What did changing the winch cable do? Or are you now able to use it to car-surf off the back of lorries?
