Just a quick poll to see who you're going to vote for on Thursday.

I presume you're all voting?

Already sent my postal vote. I never know whether I'll be in my home area on election days because of work commitments, so I opted for postal a while ago.

Having weighed up the options, looked at the numbers etc I've pretty much settled on Labour.

I suspect this is going to be a rather one-sided poll.

Polls are round, they don't have sides.

If it leans towards Labour, it is trustworthy, as polls to the right are unstable.

I live in a solid Tory seat so it's basically pissing in the wind but I'm voting Labour tactically to help reduce the blue majority. In fairness, the candidate is pretty mainstream and says the right anti-Momentum things but I still feel a bit uncomfortable because I'd rather contribute to the LIB DEM FIGHTBACK (due just after Linux on the desktop) and not have my vote taken as an endorsement of Mr Corbyn or Brexit. And he looks like my ex.

Ugh. Clearly Labour. Because we are already personally feeling the result of cuts made by Tories with our local hospital suffering, all our libraries closing down next week, and our local police station completely closed as well.

Where will your closest library be in future?

Sorry, slight exaggeration, one library is staying open and 10 are closing. So it will be about 1.5 miles walk which isn't easy with a toddler.

Only about 2 miles from us, but many more miles for people who don't live as close to the centre of the Walsall metropolitan area as we do, as it extends far as an administrative district and the catchment area for the closing branches was also pretty huge. The original plans were to close 12 of the 13 branches, but two have got a temporary stay of execution and will be staffed by volunteers. Where it personally hits us hardest is that the main toddler and baby play groups were in the library branches, and they have all now disappeared. Even before the cuts were announced the central branch had a waiting list of well over a year, so now all the access to early days socialisation, and a safe place to meet other parents has been taken away. Of course the same is true of any elderly or vulnerable people that similarly used their branch as a safe and accessible place to visit.

That's going on everywhere, ours is "under review" real shame my son loves it there and comes home with 10 or more books each time we go.

Vote, probably Lib Dem, Labour came close to convincing me but not quite.

Always voted Conservative before but they are just horrible nasty dishonest shit bags, probably been this way for years but I've noticed now :)

What happens to all the books when the libraries close?

The Central branch will get the pick and the rest will go into storage. I asked if they'd be available in the catalogue to order, but this would cause too much work, so all the available catalogue that was available via inter library loan will disappear, leaving just what will be held at the central branch.

When they said in storage, it seemed a bit odd. I wonder if the staff have just been told this as, actually, they'll be binned? Surely that'd cause uproar. You'd think they might distribute them to schools, hospitals, refuges...

Hmm, it does sound a bit suspicious.... 'storage'.

What about the actual building - I'm guessing either sold on, or left to crumble :(

I think the one that I usually go to shares the building with another organisation, so I don't think it will fall into too much disrepair unless they also vacate.

I'll miss the library staff and their work. We're going to take little gifts with us on our last toddler library session in a couple of weeks.
