Do you mean Kadai? And if so, is it a genuine one from http://www.kadai.co.uk ?

Yes sorry! Its one of those ordered it direct after seeing one at a local garden centre.

Bought the 80cm one, it works really well. Although they recommend putting in a 5KG bag of charcoal each time. I didn't do that when I cooked those chicken legs which was the issue.

I used it recently at a family barbecue with the recommend charcoal and cooked for 20 people, also used the BGE for some stuff as well.

I also bought the tripod and some cooking bowls for it, not had time to use them yet as our new baby is consuming most of my time.

I assume you put a lid on for the actual cooking, and with a lid there's no reason that wouldn't work.

There is no lid for the fire pit, think it would have been fine if I had put more charcoal in. Will try it on the BGE at the weekend as that has lid so expect it to work with no issues

Bought it here https://www.bbqandsmoke.co.uk/collectio ... -and-wings

I was at the farm park whatever place the other month, and was looking at the pigs. Big fuckers, aren't they? I always think they are about sheep size, but, no, half a mini size.

Cooking chicken on a BBQ without a lid is a pretty terrible idea.

I do know about cooking and barbecuing and am happy that there is more delicious well-cooked chicken for me!

Assuming the cook has put enough coals on and paid attention, obvs.

I needs one of those for my smoker. No, wait - two.

Maybe three.

Cool, I did that website :P

I'm pretty sure they do sell lids for them although perhaps not for the 80cm size.

If anyone else is interested in one I may be able to get you a special BeEx price ;)

I thought the price was ok for the amount of Grill space you get.

The 80cm is £600! You can get a whole lot of grill for £600. I mean sure, if you like the look of it, great, but it's in no way sensibly priced for something to cook on. And it has no lid.

That one you looked at is a "antique" model that they import from India and are supposedly 100 years old.

I got this one, which was £279 :)

https://www.kadai.co.uk/shop/32-Wilston ... Low-Stands

Also bought the tripod and cooking bowl.

You put a layer of sand into it first which you can alter to raise the height of the coal, even without the lid its fine for grilling, quite enjoy cooking on it really.

You also get 2 stands with it, the higher one is shown in the picture and is for cooking, then there is a lower one for fire pit use.

Get what you are saying about grills, but I have a BGE and prior to buying this we had the patio done and I chucked out 3 barbecues. I toyed with the idea of another BGE, then found this and just fancied something different.

Not sure how you could manage the seal between the 2 though?

There is a metal working place near me so I guess they could put a small door or other air vent in for me!

Give it a few sardines each time it performs well.

It would appreciate the air vent I'm sure.

You could easily make an air vent with just a drill, a bolt and some scrap metal.

Suggest folks do this. The currently playlist is curated entirely by MC Cras and while of course magnificent, may not be to everyone's taste...
