I thought they dropped that idea about 24 hours later because of the immense backlash?

Yeah, the site currently works fine for me with adblock on.

Adverts are - by web standards - an archaic way of making money, and are quickly dying.

Putting begging letters on your website isn't going to help, and the wankers that just slap something over the content you've gone there to find are helping kill them even faster.

Good, I say.

Which is all well and good, but what's the replacement? Paywalls and Patreons?

Maybe so. Plenty of websites have proved that (for now) you don't need adverts to exist. If the content is good enough, people will pay to cover your costs, even voluntarily.

I certainly won't be sad to see the likes of LadBible, 9gag and all the other websites that shit out copied and / or low quality content vanish.

As for higher-quality stuff like Eurogamer, they're going to have to figure something out. I doubt I'd really notice if they died, if I'm honest.

Or, if you like Ads, there's things like the Brave Browser (https://brave.com/). I not in a rush to use it, but if things really do become "no ads, no content" then it's probably the way forward - although I will enjoy the adblock vs advertiser tech war :D

If I like ads there's a browser that has adblocking baked in? I...don't understand?

Side note: the Android version of Brave is awesome and I've been using it for months.

The Android version certainly doesn't; maybe all their ad replacement chat is only for the desktop version or something?

That indicates surfing area. Shouldn't swim there.

Cast your minds back to a couple of weeks ago where I told you all about an event I'm attending where they emailed everyone and didn’t use the BCC option to hide email addresses.

Well, earlier this week (after several people replied to all) we had an apology saying that the person responsible had been reminded of their responsibilities and been given a refresher on the handling of data.

Weirdly, this email came from the same person that sent the first email so it’s like they are talking about themselves but in the 3rd person? Anyway, all’s well that ends well.

I don't know if it runs on MAME or what aves ya. I was just wandering through some games that never got home conversions and this came up, and a whole raft of memories came back about the arcade cabinet and playing it at Hollywood Bowl. Mem-or-ies!

I just bought a copy of Portal 2 for a mate and got a free copy of this masterpiece:

I'd say this game was like drugs, except it wasn't fun or mind expanding, it didn't feel good, and I didn't have the hope of an overdose and eventual death.

It looks fucking awful. I can't wait to play it.

I'm pretty sure TheVision is your wife now.

Russell has just gone out and probably seen this too late, sadly :(

Gived Tally a pasty yesters & told her of the knockers. She listened some good & throwed corner like meant to do. Then throwed all Molly's away just cause.

Taught Tally to leave food for knockers. She did. Then launched Molly's food, too. Just to make sure her sister was ok. Knockers live under the ground in Kernow, and if you don't leave food then they might make bad stuff happen.

Yes. The effects are going to look a bit rough in places but it's still a good film. Look out for a young Rik Mayall and a young(ish) Brick Top.

And as we noticed tonight, Frank "Miss Piggy" Oz.

Anyway, yes it's still well worth watching. 90 minutes of great filmmaking with no superfluous tat that can still give me goosebumps.

Was very nice to meet TheVision, and a fine evening was had by all.

I've been working away from home all week, and when I got home last night Mrs. W was telling me something about an event on a certain programme that my daughter has been watching, but as my wife doesn't watch it, she got a little confused and referred to it as Celebrity Love Juice.

How we laughed.
