Turns out I now have Dr Zoidbergs email address!

Funny.. I'm going to the 'American Werewolf in London' showing at Dudley zoo and the organiser has just emailed everyone with details on the night but of course, she didn't BCC everyone. Naturally someone has replied to everyone asking if we can bring our own drinks.

She's just followed it up with another email asking everyone to ignore the first.

We got an email the other day at work where someone wrote at the bottom "BC X & Co Solicitors."

Made us dead scared that did.

Hypothetical situation...

I know it can never happen...

But let's say it could, just for one second...

You open 3 1 kg packs of bacon, but only use 2 and a bit. You have 6 slices left, so you recling the packet and put it back in your quality fridge ( kept at a chilly 1 degree Celsius). What's the maximum time before you can keep it (assume you've been on holiday and had no access to the fridge) and still cook it safely?

I tend to bin it once it starts getting that sort of weird rainbow sheen on it, which is usually after a few days.

At the weekend, I discovered that bouncy castles and silent discos are a fantastic, if tiring, combination. I also learnt that Travis is very hard to bounce to.

*Googles "silent disco"*

Ah, that makes sense. I thought you meant dancing like a fucking idiot to nothing at all.

Apropos of nothing, I've often wondered if it would be possible to have a crowdsource disco, with some sort of app everyone downloads onto their phone, and it all links up over wifi and picks random songs from everyone's phones (probably have to set up a special playlist on the phone for it to pick from).

Probably be a security nightmare...

There was a Silent Disco at 2000 Trees last year and the highlight was about 1,000 people all over the site suddenly shouting "I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO MY....EYES..." etc

Were you at Kendal Calling Kern?

No, I was at a friend's wedding celebration in a field in Wales. So kind of like a festival, with a big tepee, plenty of booze, chilled out atmosphere, and ending with a campfire. Weather held out too.

Not actually been to a music festival. I did get to Womad in 2014 but that was to work with a friend's Scout troop helping them raise money for their jamboree trip. Probably should do one properly someday - I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the acts I saw inbetween running errands.

Remember me saying that I was starting a wedding band? Well, it’s full steam ahead. It’s me and the guitarist and bassist from my old band so we were looking for a singer.

We had an few auditions booked in last Sunday. Everyone cancelled apart from one guy. He turned up and seriously, didn’t know any songs! Not even Summer of ’69 by Bryan Adams! Who doesn’t know that? He was in his early 40’s too I’d say so has he never been invited to a wedding or party where they’ve played music?

Bless him, he had a go but we’ve all played songs we don’t know on Guitar Hero… It didn’t go well.

Anyway, yesterday we had another couple of auditions and they were good! The first guy was good, knew what he was doing but didn’t quite hit the high notes. The second to audition was a lady and she was great. She can play keyboard too which will be useful! So, she’s in.

Her name is Megan Jones so I’ve suggested we call ourselves Megan Jones and the Magic tones… That’s a winner right there!

Great stuff!

I'm now picturing you on the panel of an ITV talent contest. How long did you let the no-hopers audition for after you'd decided they didn't have it?

Now, let's create your band image:

@Grim... That's not her. I haven't listened to it though as I'm at work. Any good?

As for the audition that wasn't very good. It was a bit awkward to be honest. We had a list of songs and we can play pretty much anything (within reason). We muddled through some songs that he didn't know and then played a Neal Diamond song that he did know. It wasn't very good. I got the impression that he wasn't going to go unless we did something so I took the bull by the horns and said "What we'll do, we'll all go away and give you 5 songs to learn and perhaps we can reschedule for another session in a few weeks time?"

With this, he agreed and he got shown out.

Speaking of which I am off for my first guitar lesson today as my secret plan is to be able to play Little Monster by Royal Blood at my wedding in October next year as a surprise for my future Mrs.

We haven't picked a band yet The Vision.....

As long as it's not the same weekend as the Cottage, we're in!

Seriously though, what part of the country are you planning on getting married? I'm sure we could come up with mates rates for you and if you need us to, we'd accompany you on Little Monster. I'm not familiar with the song yet, but are you planning on singing it too?

It's next October on the 6th in Manchester.

I was thinking I will need to butter up the band (or at least the drummer) to see if they could do it with me so if I know the band that would be easier of course! On the singing front I'm really not sure - I'd like to, but fear my voice isn't strong enough and singing and playing at the same time would probably be a bit of an ask and I'd end up sounding like Vic Reeves pub singer.

You've got ages to learn it though so as long as you put the time in, you'll be absolutely fine.

And yes, I'm sure we'll be up for that so let's have a serious chat once we get our end up and running.

Yes, I did that too. I've done a few missions and bought myself a small freighter with 6 load capacity and 12 whatsit thing fsd points so I can do bigger jumps and longer runs. I've set it up for salvage recovery so no mining lasers or refineries or whatnot as mining is boring af and I like carrying illicit cargo recovered for shady characters. I've got lasers and a massive shotgun (I love shotguns, They're my friends) thing on top in case the 5-0 take an interest.

Have bought elite dangerous. Have no idea what is going on. It's great.

Me too! Me too. It just kicked me, time to find out if the 2 missions I was on my way to collect the rewards for have wiped....

They had not. Good game.

I accepted a mission to take some information somewhere in exchange for LOADS OF CASH MONIES but there's a timescale to it and I've now realised my stupid FTL drive CANT GET ME THERE. Due to the short range of my FSD thing I'm trapped in an area of about 4 star systems :)

I'm currently just hanging around the local navpoint waiting for "wanted" ships to drop in, and get at least one shot on them before they get blown up. So far I've made 32k, but was only playing for an hour. I need to get enough cash to afford some longer FTL legs (and find a station that sells them")

Docking is fine (although every entry through the mailbox is squeaky bum time), but landing is a fecking pig.
