So if you overshoot the time you need, you instinctively turn the dial the other way, but now you're changing the programme and everything is terrible?

While exciting, it is also annoying. Depending on which direction you turn first, it locks into that functionality until you press the confirm or cancel button.
It's the wrong way round, the timer starts at 90 minutes and you have to scroll down to 5 minutes etc... It does have a 30 second button to just whack a few times though.

I bought this from a charity shop the other day. They didn't want to sell it to me as it hadn't been PAT tested but I managed to convince them. £25 and it's in great condition. It's even got the original receipt from curry's in there... £129.99 in 1992 for the Game Gear.

How do you PAT test a battery powered device?

Post subject:  Re: What have you bought?

I did wonder that but this is the Game Gear plus which basically means "this eats batteries so here's a power supply with an extra long cord on it"

I bought some bath bombs for me and the kiddo.

I wouldn’t usually post about such a purchase, but it’s an independent seller, local to me but do mail order anywhere, and their stuff is awesome. £2 each, £1 wax melts, but MOSTLY I bought a party bomb £5 and it whooshes around the bath and then lights up and flashes different colours. AND it smells of refreshers. It was just great fun.

I thought I’d mention it in case anyone had a mum/mother of children, etc that liked baths as it’s mothers day next Sunday. I bought these on Thursday, so delivery was quick. I’ve found the £2 ones you buy in supermarkets don’t smell of anything, or really fizz, not like the lush ones. These fizz and are really well scented, though. Not quite as big as Lush ones, but also not £6+ each.

Website is below. I don’t know the seller, and I’ve not bought from her before, but communication was ace and I’m just really impressed.

I used to use Revell Aqua Matt varnish that had a good matt finish but had a tendency to make colours look a little milky. Anyway the tub I had was dried up so I thought I'd pop down the local hobby shop and THEY SOLD ME A LIE - "Is this stuff (Lifecolor Matt Varnish) really matt or does it dry with a sheen?" "It's matt as they also do a Satin varnish"... LIAR it was labelled a Matt Varnish but did indeed have a SATIN FINISH!!!

Anyway, read about this stuff and it's bloody great, big ass bottle too so should last me ages.

£25 with 10% voucher.
Bloody great, wore them for about 4 hours in total yesterday, super comfortable. They came with a dozen different lughole squishy things of different types and sizes, which has always been a problem for me as the standard 3 different sizes you get never had a size that fitted my right ear properly. After a bit of experimentation, both ears are solid and unlikely to fall off.

Sound quality is good, surprising amount of bass to them.

Tricky to setup first time, to get them connected to each other and then the phone in the right order. But now that is done it's just a matter of putting them in and turning each one on, and it all works out.

Phone call quality is reasonable, the other person could hear me totally fine when i was driving.

Let's see how they perform on the commute tomorrow!

Oh... I've bought something! A smoke machine.

I figured I'll be using it in a video shoot soon so I thought I'd treat myself. It's turning up today.

I'll do a before and after of my living room with and without smoke if you all like? How exciting!

Smoke machines are ace, especially with a strobe light and tennis ball. We used to entertain ourselves for hours trying to catch the ball with the smoke and strobe on. It's very difficult.

It's exactly like a machine vaping. If you were rich you could use a PG (runny) vape fluid in them.

The only difference is that it's pumped in rather than sucked out.

b) if you're sitting in it you won't see the ugly back, so fair point.

c) Is it actually comfortable?

d) Technically, that view is not from the front.

For desk chairs, that's still far from the most expensive. The most common ones we have at work are £1000 odd.

That's a Herman Miller Embody. Circa £1250 new. Even Google won't spring for those (we have ~£750 Herman Miller Mirras, mostly, at our desks; some Sayls in meeting rooms.)

We had a complete office refurb when I was still in the civil service, including new chairs and desks. We got Herman Miller Mirra type chairs. Very sexy and modern looking, but just aggravated my sciatica. We had a chair specialist advising those of us who were having problems with those chairs. He recommended something much less fancy and much less expensive and it was the most comfortable office chair I ever had and did wonders for my sciatica.

£559 fully recovered for my back. Is it worth it? Fuckin A.

I had a Sayl which was lovely but the arms went. Then I bought a Humanscale Freedom headrest which I broke lifting 18st up on the arms (I outgrew the Sayl also because it was a size A) and the Humanscale is generally dirty and worn after 3.5 years.

I've spent £1000 total or less on chairs in the past decade. Not a crazy sum for your posture and lack of pain.

Blimey ten years ago I could sit on a box....

Is it comfy? Yes very. Not had a chance to adjust it yet as it ships in one piece (had no idea) so it's currently in mum's dining room.

Those things on the back and under it are flexy ribs. So you can twist and move in it and instead of it refusing to budge it goes with you.

Probably but when your autie obsession is computers that ain't happening.

I've been better though and do get exercise now. I would, I have 8 sets of stairs to navigate to get up here.

I'm also forcing myself to go out for 30 mins daily, so yeah pushing all the time now instead of just sitting waiting to die.

I damaged my back (ligaments) in a trampoline accident as a kid and have been plagued by it ever since. If a chair isn't right I won't be able to breathe once the pain kicks in and have to stand and move around.
