A nail gun

Whoooaaaarrr nice. Is it as quick as a gas gun in use?

I have no idea — I’ve never used a nail gun before. It’s a 2nd fix, so does 32-63mm only, which is fine for my needs. It will mainly be used for putting backs on cabinets and is sooooo much faster than doing it by hand.
Yesterday I was putting 18mm reinforcing batons onto the base of a cabinet, ready to hold some oak legs. Before I would have had to joint these on and it would have taken a couple of hours. This time it took less than ten minutes. A bit of glue, a couple of clamps. Bang bang bang. Job done.

Of course. It’s 3m x 1.8m and cost £3900 for everything including the electrics which is a good price, and best bit was only 4 weeks lead time. It was a friend’s husband who does them but he’s in the West Midlands so may not want to be going as far as you.

As the back garden isn't big enough, end of the drive. Smash down the outbuilding, then rebuild there with a view to incorporating the downstairs toilet somehow.

An oil filled radiator will heat that up in no time at all. It’s insulated and double glazed so I’ll just use a timer to turn it on half an hour before I start work.

Not sure yet. The outside is being painted grey which should make it look fairly modern, and I’ve got an industrial looking desk and shelf unit to go in there. I’m undecided on carpet or laminate floor plus rug, and then whether to do all coloured walls or just one as a feature to keep it lighter. Got next week off work to get that done.

If we get ours done then a trellis to have hops growup, or a basket with fuscias to grow down is my idea.

I’d go for laminate plus rug - you can get some really nice looking laminate flooring and it will be more hard wearing and easier to clean if you have to walk on wet ground to get there. Plus easier to redecorate if you fancy a change since you can just change the rug. Love the sound of the desk. I saw a home office design online that was lovely with a really deep dark green wall then lighter walls. Something like that or a deep blue with loads of plants like palms, snake plants, rubber plants etc would be brilliant.

You can get really good vinyl flooring nowadays, I recommened that! Nice and quick to lay, as well.

I was also going to suggest this, but for some reason also didn’t it wouldn’t suit your office at all, but I saw a really pretty Moroccan tile one recently, but there are loads of quite nice designs out there, and it’s not like the old fashioned linos.

Oh, honestly, you could absolutely empty the NHM and still spend a full and exciting time just looking at the walls, the columns, the ceilings, windows, staircases. Every inch is a masterpiece. The tea rooms (not the newish, large, open plan one but the older ones) were designed by William Morris. I haven’t managed to sit down and read the book yet but I didn’t see any of the pictures of that from my quick flick through (maybe because it counts as the furnishings rather than architecture, though). Did you spit the trilobite in one of the carved friezes? I’d have put trilobites everywhere.
