I dislike it. The CGI foxes aren't very good and the whole thing is a bit... I don't know, it's just a bit normal.

Compare it to the snowman, and it's a chunk of shit.

I did like the comedy cutaway, though.

Yeah, but why do people still pay attention?

I think if you were to ask people individually how much they believed these reports, the majority would indicate that they knew it was hyperbole and they didn't realistically expect the snowmageddon being predicted. However, collectively people like to get worked up and excited about extreme weather or even just snow because it's a fairly irregular occurrence, it signals the start of the winter and also sort of the festive season and it's a mildly exciting collective thing to talk about. Basically, we are all overgrown children and stories of lots of snow that will force us to stay off work for the day is a winter miracle we all secretly (or sometimes overtly!) hope for.

See, that I totally get - but then you see people using it as an argument against global warming, even when it never materialises!

Given that the Daily Express is the greatest proponent of OMG THUNDERSNOES APOCALYPSE stories and also doesn't believe in climate change this cause and effect may not be unconnected or unplanned.

I'm trying not to get involved in any discussions about politics because it is depressing me so much and I don't want fill my free time with something like that but it terrifies me that climate change deniers are being empowered by the president elect.

Nah, Sheffield is north. If you think Wakefield is in the midlands you are a buffoon.

See also: Manchester.

I drove between Manchester and Wakefield (and back) on Friday. It had been noisily bucketting down throughout the night and the van was covered in sleet when I set off at around 7:30. A 5 car RTA in the M60 near Ashton-under-Lyne caused quite a big tailback, so I didn't get to Wakefield until 9:40. Quite a lot of snow on the summit of the M62, but luckily not sticking on the road, but there WAS patchy fog.

The Tom-Tom wanted me to travel back via the A628 to avoid the heavy traffic on the M62, but I didn't fancy that in the dark with no street lighting and with no road markings in places, so joined the serpentine string of vehicles on the 62 after all. Another two hour trip in heavy rain with some snow still on the hills, but otherwise uneventful.

I'm pretty sure it cools the air coming out the vents.
