My neighbour’s husband works in the Apple store in Birmingham. He was due in at 10:30 so set off at 8:30 to wait for the bus. No buses came, so he set off walking towards town as the website said they were still running. Not quite sure why he did this as it’s the opposite direction to Birmingham. Anyway, after walking 50 minutes he arrived at the bus station. Eventually a bus set off and got stuck about 300 yards from the station. After they freed traffic he carried on. It took him just past his house before the main road being blocked off as it’s no longer passable, so all buses were suspended. He was just about 50 yards from my house. Back to where he started over two hours earlier.

A friend of mine went to Dublin for the weekend and she's now stuck there as Birmingham Airport have now suspended all flights :)

Here, yesterday's snow had disappeared by the evening, only to be replaced by more overnight, so today's post office trip was a little treacherous, but at least I can put my feet up now.

A friend posted pictures from the M40 heading towards London saying that it was very slow but his car was coping fine. Twenty minutes later there was a further update from a ditch by the side of the M40.

Oh goodness, are they ok?

My mother’s husband is stuck at Junction 3 of the M1 on the way to work and she said there’s barely an inch of snow there.

Yep, he’s fine and there doesn’t look to be much damage but he’s not getting out without some help.

Dat’s right.

I have now had this explained to me. Never heard it before.

Our flight is one of the few that's actually going from City. However, our actual flights were booked to go from Gatwick...

So, erm. Yeah, should've read that ticket I guess.

Booked the flight I thought I was on with BA online while we stood in the check-in queue. Thank god for 4G, eh?

Nothing is happening. We've decided to book our own hotel. Both flights tomorrow are already overbooked so looks like we're here till Tuesday unless they put extra on.

Brrrr. I once saw the sea freeze in wave foam shapes a few years ago. I didn’t even realise that was possible on UK shores.

Russell and a neighbour did a good couple of hours work today.

Forecast for today is snow, its wet and not sticking more like slush, supposed to get warmer and vanish around 1pm

Had nothing but rain all weekend.

Had HR on to me last night as they didn't have the permissions to send to site wide email distribution lists, so I had to send an email saying if people had snow they should use their judgement in deciding to drive to work.

Slow drive into work this morning over the coast, it's amazing how different the snow fall has been in just a 16 mile drive (very little in Ramsey, yet Onchan got some serious snowfall).

The mountain webcams give a good idea as to why the mountain road remains closed..... (There's supposed to be a road there.)

We and a neighbour cleared our bit of the lane today. An Amazon driver then dropped off a couple of Blu-rays.

I and the neighbour then spent going on an hour digging and pushing him and his BMW back up the lane.

He was grateful but I just thought that if we'd not bothered he would've thought 'ha, no'. No way I was leaving him stranded.

I'm not hopeful of getting my bigger BMW with wider wheels out tomorrow, especially as later on Helen went to take video to show her work (who have been idiots about it) and it was already more heavily frozen further up.

We're forecast -11 tonight.

I reckon I'd get Helen's mx5 out (LSD) but mine is boxing it in.

I could barely get the car on the drive this evening. Or rather, I couldn't get up the hill sufficiently to reverse on.

This may be a silly question, but when manoeuvring like that, am I better with or without traction control? I drive an automatic so can not select any gear other than first in this situation.

You have no way of selecting gears? Mine is auto and I can do that. Check your manual!

Also check to see if you have a winter mode.
