Bit of a random question, how do you remove labels easily from jam jars and glass yogurt pots.

Tried soaking in hot water and elbow grease, but it does not shift easily.

WD40 is a good one if hot soapy water isn't working.

If you can get the top later off (the shiny, printed surface) you may find it even easier. Let it soak in for 5 mins, scrape a bit with fungerbsils/butter knife, wipe with kitchen roll.

Lighter fluid is amazing. I use it for getting stickers off guitars.

There's stuff called 'Sticky Stuff Remover' too. Good for getting ink stains off things as well.

Stick it in the dishwasher, then take what's left off with white spirit, thinners, petrol or lighter fluid.

Dunno. Doesn't seem to.

I've not specifically tried it with yoghurt jars, I must confess.

Didn't we have a conversation about dishwasher filters where you suggested the idea that they needed to be cleaned out was total nonsense? Potentially related.

I let the dishwasher filter collect stuff then empty it. Completely unrelatedly, a new dishwasher is being delivered tomorrow.

Not sure, the jars are funky. Misskov wants me to recycle them.

Recycle them? That involved putting them in the recycling box, surely. Not cleaning the labels off them.

Eucalyptus oil is pretty good for cleaning off residues etc

Smells quite nice too, and is quite safe to use. Stings like billy-o if you get it on an open cut though (but as a bonus, it's safe and has some antiseptic properties also).

151 Sticker Remover, been using it for years to get labels off glass and plastic. Also using it as a general muck cleaner on game cases; I give them a very gentle wipe with dilute Fairy to clean off the 151 afterwards.

Its a dishwasher though, not a waste disposal unit, I rinse the plates IF there is still stuff/bits on there after being scraped

And then get blocked. Rinsing plates is easier than taking out all the racks and shit from the dishwasher and then cleaning out an icky filter caked in accumulated filth

My friend's brother in law's family put bleach in with their washing up liquid to make the plates 'extra clean'. They also sniff the crockery before using it to make sure it's clean enough. Now that's a bit odd, right?

I thought dishwashers heated their own water? I guess not all of them.

Obviously I wouldn't put a plate in the dishwasher if it had chips or something left on it, they go in the bin. But Cras was cleaning the plates!

Places like school kitchens run a dilute bleach solution through the dishwasher and soak procedures.
