I thought exactly the same, which is why it’s a bit disappointing and jarring when I started to play the free DLC Not a Hero and the gun is locked to your face like you’re a tank turret. It didn’t feel good either so I reckon I’ll be playing that in 2D vision.

I should elaborate. Previously, I used some normal headphones with the VR hat (Sony MDR-V150, fact fans) but it was an extra faff with cables and it never really worked for the kids. These 'phones clip straight onto the plastic head band and hang down over your ears, Oculus Rift style. There's a sprung mechanism that keeps them against your ears and they are very adjustable. Sound quality if pretty good for on-ear headphones and they're obviously quite comfy. I've been able to route the wires along the band so that there's less faff. Worth it.

The solidity improves things more than the integrated audio, honestly. Means looking down doesn't blur. Although I think it does cause some tightness headaches.

Ideally I'd prefer something like the full head strap, but beggars have limited choice, so I've been told...

I like the idea of those headphones very much but with the Move controllers, shooty controller and a massive desire for a racing seat (thanks Lonewolves) I don't think I can justify and I'll be honest if I am playing Resident Evil 7 and I am completely immersed visually and aurally I think I may die.

How much does it work out in poundages though as I do have a birthday coming up in a few months...?

They are annoyingly unavailable in the UK, but you can buy them from Amazon.com $49.99. With tax and delivery, it was a sliver over £50. I know, pricey for basic headphones, but worth it for my needs.

Something to stick on my list then cheers.

Well until such time as I find an excuse and just buy them anyway, probably when I next try and get the PSVR out from behind the TV, catch the heaphone wire on the camera wire and send the camera flying off the top of the TV, for the 6th time.

Bought I Expect You To Die in the Easter sale. It's very good fun, but slightly shorter than I expected. The missions are also such that once you've worked out the correct sequence of actions there's not a lot of replay value.

Played RIGS a bit, twas ok, but had to constantly resist the urge to complain about being too old for this shit.

I tried it and for me it was absolutely fine, even after an hour and a half. Definitely be keeping it set like that. I did try the default again but it didn't feel nearly as immersive. This just feels like how it's meant to be, it feels like Wipeout was always meant to be like this. Honestly can't imagine playing it on a flat screen now.

GT Sport finally gave their VR mode a tiny bit of love in the form of time trials. Obviously full races and mutiplayer would be better but even this small improvement has made it so much better. Between this is Wipeout I just can't get enough of PSVR at the moment.

More Wipeout, beyond the limit of my abilities on this zone run, and a couple of lucky wins:

Obviously 2D footage can't really get any of this across but it's no exaggeration to say that this is the most intense, memorable gaming experience I've had in decades. When I first got onto that Sol track I was grinning like a fucking loon.

If this isn't my personal game of the year then I can't wait to play the thing that is.

I dunno, I'm watching this in 2D and feeling pretty nauseous. Admittedly I've never tried 3D. But it feels plenty intense enough for me from here, thankyouverymuch.

Gave Wipeout VR a go yesterday and it's surprisingly--and impressively--not even slightly vomit-inducing. They've accomplished this with the trick of having the actual cockpit you sit in being able to move independently of the chassis so even when your hovercraft is twisting all over the place your 'seat' stays level and you just see everything else move around you. It's an approach that never even occurred to me but it's very effective. I still think it should do the actual full revolution whenever you trigger a barrel roll just for shits and giggles.

It's good for getting used to it but the immersion ramps up significantly once you put it in the proper mode.

Post subject:  Re: PSVR

I find it totally comfortable even in pilot mode. Dirt Rally has a similar mode but that really does make me ill. I think the key difference is that Wipeout has a bit of "give" so not all the ship movements come through directly and so it feels far more natural, in Dirt Rally if you choose that mode then it's like your eyes are absolutely fixed in a point in space relative to the car interior and it's just a horrifying experience.

Anyway give it a try it really does make you feel far more like you're in there and it might not even make you sick.

I’ve been playing Fruity Shooty.

The scenario is great. You work as a checkout operative at Lidl who has to scan customers items like the mindless drone that you are. However, for some reason which I’m hoping will become apparent as the story progresses, you are attacked by sentient fruit determined to destroy your checkout. Fortunately Lidl has installed a rail for the convenience of operatives that delivers an endless supply of assorted guns to dispatch the fruity horde. I know, just like a Grisham novel isn’t it.

It kinda sounds like it could be an Atari 2600 game.

Anyway, scan items and shoot fruit until bored. I was going to play for 10 minutes but dumped an hour into it last night. VR is stupid fun init.
