Friends and their kids went with us to a Haunted Halowe'en farm.. There was a Haunted Barrel tractor Ride where a tractor pulls a train full of barrels along a route and people jump up in costumes etc and shout "boo!" or whatever. 2 of the 3 kids that went on that ride with MrsA are now unable to sleep due to "the scary clown". "the pig-man" and "the duck man" . Those 2 are not mine so "yay". Bigone seems unaffected and Doone and I went to look at an emu instead of going on ride. Read the small print, kids.

More of a Nay! but Yay! then Nay! The main TV seemed to be on the path to self-destruction the other day, I noticed a horizontal line of stuck pixels going across the bottom. That Nay! only lasted about five seconds before I started plotting what to get to replace it and excitedly drew up a shortlist of 55" ones that would be a nice upgrade. Then switched it on last night and the fucking thing's fine again.

I'm sure TV's shrink.

Every time we've had a new non CRT telly it's been "WOW! This is massive, it's like being at the cinema!" a few months down the line and you see how much extra wasted space there is around the wall that a bigger TV could occupy :D

Lucky it didn't do more damage! How old is that Malc? It looks like it could do with updating but I'm only basing that on the fact it looks different to mine which was fitted about... Oh yeah, 10 years ago.

If I was to fit a board, it would probably look like that.

But without the burnt bit, that would come later.

About 11 years old. and yeah it could have been much worse, looking like it might cost the best part of a grand to replace and install, which is perfect timing, I mean there is never a good time for that sort of thing, but a month before christmas has got to be one of the worst times.

Malc, please get some more quotes. I had some electrical work done last month that included a new board, three new sockets, and outside light and full safety certificate for the house. It cost me £500. Although I appreciate yours is more urgent so you might be paying for that.

Hope you get it sorted soon. :)

I will do, he hasn't given me the quote yet, this was just a verbal rough figure. He thought the new box would be about £500 (with the replacement breakers too) and that it would take about 10 hours at £25 an hour.

His Quote is £645 which seems more reasonable to me.

Because of how many breakers there are? The house is essentially split into 2 (main house and extension) over 2 floors. There are separate rings for lights and sockets in each of those 4 areas, so that's 8. Then there is one for the old electrical shower, one for the smoke detector and one for the outside/garden rooms. Not sure what the 12th one is for.

A couple of days ago our oven broke(nay). But we did. It worry as we had the halogen oven as a back up and could make do for Christmas (yay).

My new medication makes me feel better (yay) but I fall asleep (nay) repeatedly (nay).

So because the day kind of disappeared with sleeping Mimi, we were late to putting the dinner. The halogen oven... and when we did, all of the fuses in the house blew. Once, twice, three times.

So, both ovens are broken :DD (Doublenay).

But Darwin and I have been to emergency doctors and emergency hospital visits, between us, six times this last week. And, to be honest in my heart I’d kind of given up the idea that we’d be together at home for Christmas. So, biggest yay.

Two days. Two fucking days I’ve been cursing Warburtons bread. Bastard stuff never fits in my toaster. It’s not like I’ve got an odd shaped or small toaster either: every other kind of bread I’ve ever purchased in the 12 months or so I’ve had it has fitted snuggly inside to be warmed lovingly in its embrace. Warburtons though. Their fucking bread. Bag of shit had to be squashed down at the crust to fit inside and then bits would catch the inner basket and break off. Fucking fuckers.

Turns out it fits fine when I turn the bread 90 degrees.

Nay to the old. I ended up abandoning my flat back in late November when it got too cold to be there as it was too damp. I've been there for about 3 weeks in total since.

Dirty manky old carpets.

Image

And yeah, they were like that when we moved in. Lots of things like this.

Image

The kitchen is a disaster zone, due to a four month leak. Light is now falling off.

Image

And doesn't work. The ceiling has cracked and sagged.

Image

And the walls are bubbling, mouldy and blistering.

Image

Ceiling has collapsed in here.

Image

Look what the damp has done to my cooker.

Image

Now onto the yay. I was contacted by a trust back in December. They have not only been magnificent in dealing with all of my problems but they have also nailed my landlady. My landlady has now been fined for leaving the flat like it was. My move date is 27th March, and I move into sheltered housing. We have a care worker visit for two hours a week. Here is the entrance, which is all computer controlled.

Image

All of the residents have a panic button and login etc. It also tells you the bus times, shop opening hours and so on. Yes, it has ads lol. The bathroom looks like this.

Image

And like this.

Image

PVC rad.

Image

The blinds throughout the flat are all built into the windows, so I only needed one set of curtains.

Image

Because the window is slap bang in the middle of the bathroom the throne is hidden.

Image

The bedroom.

Image

The closet in the bedroom is a funny shape, and goes off to the right using up all available space.

Image

Computer controlled rads.

Image

Living room area.

Image

Kitchen.

Image

And view from the bathroom window.

Image

I couldn't stand up properly because it was terribly windy. But from the living room windows you can see straight out to sea, when the weather isn't crap.

Now surging with adrenaline and properly wide awake I had to do this four more times before the stupid fucking thing could be bothered to wake up. Took me ages to get back to sleep after that >:|

A couple of years ago I bought a second hand Sony TV that still had some of the 5 year Richer Sounds warranty left on it.
Recently it died - Nay
Fortunately it was just still covered - Yay
Sadly the warranty wasn’t transferable - Nay
I persuaded them I was the original purchaser - Yay
They couldn’t fix it - Nay
They offered me £500 towards a replacement - Yay
I was going to get them to price match Costco for the new TV, but it went out of stock last night - Nay
I happened to have a day at home tomorrow so it’s being delivered then - Yay
